Bought a falcon II, I like the stika its to heavy when loaded up with water and gear for one shoulder. If it has two shoulder straps I would keep it.

Yeah especially if you add the 100 oz camelpack with the pack fully loaded. I love it for a day bag though, a 40 oz water bottle some gear and a change of socks shirt and shorts and its about perfect.
The main reason I like the Shoulder sling pack is I also have a Fat boy pack that I normally wear in with the Sitka at the same time. One has all my not to be set down kinda stuff and the Sitka has my comfort gear.
So Sitka sling over one shoulder Fatboy sling over the other. I like being able to sling the Sitka around front and access it while still wearing it too.
I might just get a hillpeople chest pouch or something and get a 2 strap bag like the pygmy falcon with a belt pack attached. Guyon and Warrior I think are both rocking a Falcon with the Belt pack attached for pack support and to elongate the pack some.

Hit the river with a co-worker today. Floated a five-mile stretch at about 1 mph and fished the whole time. I caught sixteen and got the species diversity prize: bream, bass, catfish, gar, drum. My buddy caught a nice 17" smallmouth and a bunch of others. Damn fine way to spend a morning. By the time we took out, the river riffraff were up and down the river in all their white-bellied glory, complete with inner tubes, beer, and ample cellulite on display. Good stuff.

That's weird I didn't see you????

Maybe I was too busy drinking beer and sunning my belly. Next time say hi.

That was you? I was blinded by the reflection and didn't recognize you. :p

that sounds like a fair reason for trading it off -- will you get more use out of the 2?

Went to a place called Firehouse Subs today. If any of you ever see one you have to stop by. They have the best subs I've ever had. Ever.

Anyway watching the hawks game. Hope they win..

DJ that chain was actually started by a fireman who was making sandwiches for his firehouse..lol good stuff.

Firehouse is pretty good. Their brisket sub is better than I expected from a chain restaurant.

I agree. I bought one about a year ago to test out the one shoulder strap day to day. Rode my bike to work quite a bit and carried the bag daily. It is still my everyday pack at the moment. I found that I prefer a traditional two strap pack. If anyone is interested, I'd be willing to sell or trade my pack. It's in great shape. A Sitka. All black. Just let me know. I've got my eye on a camelbak, I believe it's a mule ng. It has a built-in rain cover that comes out from the bottom. I'd like that! The most annoying thing about the Sitka is when you bend over with it on, it's not secure enough to stay on your back. It topples right over.

Bought a minivan today... officially old now. :grumpy:

Galeocerdoshark, I got that 15 bug too and had to order one. It was weird, like one day I just all of a sudden thought it was the perfect knife after disregarding it and the 5 for so long, I even sold one of my knives I never thought I would sell to get it.

Yeah man, there's no way back now. A minivan. Ouch. I feel for ya.
And yeah, I never thought of the 5 and 15 either, even thought they were ugly. And now with bsmith always posting pics of it, I don't believe I've seen a more beautiful blade than the 15. Pffff! The 5 looks cool too, but I get more use out of smaller blades so... The 15 is on my shortlist.
Are you liking the 15?

awake in texas.
racks of sat and video gear humming in my left ear.

Psy, I realized my post above may have come off a little assholish and elitist. I didn't mean it that way.
No problem with folks having fun, although everyone knows that the true purpose of the river is to fish, of course. ;) :D

I just meant it was a freakin' circus up and down the river when we took out. Totally clogged with people.
That stretch supports three separate canoe/kayak rental places in a short run, and I think everybody and his/her brother was out there.
Some bikini images are burned into my brain that have no rightful place in my memory. What has been seen cannot be unseen.

I'm glad we got there at sunrise and beat the crowds.

Do you use the secondary strap that wraps around and connects under the opposite side pectoral ? Maybe I haven't hard used my pack enough yet, but it stays secure on me as long as I have it completely strapped on.

I do use it. It does help a bit but I still have slippage issues.

Just goes to show, I dont get out enough ..lol. I have been seriously eyeballing a set up like Guyon uses, also liking the Eberlstock x4 highspeed. I think I might get that and a set of straps to mount a small pouch on the chest straps.
Its a bigger pack though, so I may do both ..lol Pygmy Falcon and belt pack for my lighter rig, and Eberlstock with a small chest pack mounted for my bigger rig.

I didnt take it personal I mean we all know your an asshole ;) next time you really should say hi. I tried fishing a bit but I have next to zero experience fishing in a river. I used a crappie jig on a bobber and got one fish on but lost it. The water was super muddy since the river had went up 5 feet the night before. I would like to learn more about the fishing from a kayak thing this was my second real attempt at fishing out of my boat.

Lol! What's on the agenda today Silver?

We're gonna do some training, clean out some closets and spend some time sharpening kitchen knives, a BK2 and BK11
