I like a snark in a short skirt and a looong jacket!

Glad you received it okay! The #2 Bird & Trout is a scaled down version of the Grohmann #1 D.H. Russell Canadian Belt Knife, which is a rather iconic blade in these parts and a great little slicer. I'm a big fan of Grohmann blades, I especially like their forged line of kitchen knives. I never drive by the factory in Pictou, NS without stopping in for a visit and emptying my wallet (and indulging in some fish and chips from Murphy's across the street).

i like me some Grohmanns. often copied, never duplicated.

got the large survival and the standard sized one.

also a "good copy" in carbon, by "that guy"... for $7 i had to :)

I was having a piece of crap Monday until Matt Tackett emailed me and told me I won his giveaway knife.
I'm stoked!
Can't wait to take that knife out and give it a thourough whoopin'!
Looks like his stuff can definitely handle it.
I've been interested in his work since the gathering at E's.
Good stuff!

Congrats you will love it!

I'm tossing around the idea of putting my Junglas, one of my bk9's, and a Cam 7 up on the exchange....
I don't know...
I've got a Cam 9 now, and along with my Siegle Bolo, I don't really neeeed the Junglas and spare Niner.
Just not a huge fan of the 7.
I try not to keep knives that see little to no use.
It's just hard getting rid of such great blades...
LOL, i've had an ad written since Sat. but I just cant bring myself to post it!

Dont do it! I have lots of blade but I rotate them. I wouldnt want to be with out any of them they are like kids they are all different but you love them all!

I have multiples of the knives that I love, and can afford to have multiples of. They are slightly different i.e. I have 2 different Clip point tweeners. One is a modified 16 one is a stock 17. I have 3 different Esee-3s. 1 is a Mil clip, one is a mil Partial Serrated, one is a regular regular.

ill prolly have to throw a couple on the exchange too.. ill wait till 2moro though. damn bills just come from everywhere...

New od green candiru will be gone, and possibly my custom bk11 :( ill prolly throw in a remora as a package deal if someone gets both

That's kind of what I'm thinking. I really have no need to sell.
I really only like having users though....
I hate having good blades laying around unused. I hate it.
The Junglas is the one I'd probably kick myself if I got rid of it.

I guess you could lend the junglas to someone so it gets some use but is still technically yours...

I hear ya. I get the same way and if having it at my finger tips doesn't motivate me to use it, I always get tempted to sell it to fund another purchase. I do keep a variety in the collection and very much enjoy trying out a lot of knives but I tend to not enjoy it when they start to accumulate after a clear favorite for a particular slot in the rotation has emerged.

I still call people smeerlap. I find it funny when I call someone that, then get this look like "I think I'm insulted, but I don't know what you just said so I kind of want to fight you but you do look like you could beat my a$$ so I am just going to walk away confused."

From who? The elderly and small children?

Got a shipping confirmation from JD this morning, with this on the way to me.

Can't wait to get it :D

Nice one bsmith. 710 is stepping up his game.

In other news I've been MIA for a bit. Dating a girl, busy with work, and the summer weather. Been nice in Seattle as of late. Hoping I didn't miss the BK18 announcement :).

On a positive note I'm spending the next 4 weekends either camping or in a cabin. Lots of knife play on the horizons. bk5, 14, 16, and 9 are gonna be riding shotgun. Haven't worked out the 10 yet but I'm waiting to shave off that ramp and strip her first.

GF casually mentioned to me yesterday that she sharpened one of my Becker kitchen knives... I am pretty sure this is first time she's ever sharpened anything. I asked what she used, and she said "the bottom of a coffee cup."

So proud!

When I left the house yesterday, the old lady had this:

(Not shown is the winch that was added.)

When she came home after I got off work, she had this:

Something seems... different...

She went from a 2009 Wrangler with a 3 inch lift, custom bumper, and winch (and a few other odds and ends) to a 2012 Rubicon Call of Duty Edition 6-Speed manual.

Nice DH! I'm attempting to change our 2000 Durango R/T into a Wrangler in the near future.

Oh, and I'm still recovering form Saturday. Beef ribs, red sausage, and turkey on the bottom rack. You wouldn't believe how awesome smoked turkey mixed with chorizo is for tacos.
