Rk, Got it! Added to "the group" in the phone.

I dunno if you all are aware Alton Brown (one of my absolute favorite "chef-type" guys) has a new podcast. It's the cooking version of the Knife Journal Podcast. Although every episode he has a different guest. It's awesome!

I did not know this. I like his show "Good Eats" though. I might check out his podcast but between, "The Knife Journal", Gear Geeks Live", "Knife Thursday" and "Dan Carlin's Hardcore History" I don't know when I'd have the time.

I have two podcasts now so I have plenty of time. PLUS he has about 40 episodes already out so I am planning on catching up on the drive to Atlanta.

finally done with work for the day.
Ok, there was a beer between post-dinner and post-post-dinner workings... but yeah.
'night, folks.

I barely have time to listen to all the podcasts I've got qued. E2E, Knife Journal, Joe Rogan and about 6 different Kevin Smith podcasts.

I have 19 hot pepper plants in various stages of growth in our garden, ranging from regular ol' cayenne chiles and jalapenos to habaneros. ;)

Honestly I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do with all the hab's if they all live/produce. That's a good deal hotter than anything I usually eat, but Miss Angie found a killer deal on several plants so... I guess we'll figure it out.

One thing to watch out with is planting different varieties of peppers too close to each other. They will cross and the hybrid result will/can be less than ideal. I mixed up a flat of peppers one year and ended up planting 6 sweet bell peppers in amongst the jalapenos and cayenes. Hottest damn sweet bell peppers ever. Did NOT save the seeds from those bell peppers.

Since you should not plant some things in the same place in consecutive years (tomatoes being one of them), I have 4 separate garden areas and rotate my veggies each year. I always put the sweet peppers where the tomatoes are so I have separation from the hot peppers

Beer?! Pffft! That is nasty stuff... Who has the 50 year old single malt scotch?!

Well if were getting picky there is something id prefer over beer and scotch...... :D

Wife and kids are going to be gone Saturday, lots of people will be at blade, Man i need something to do this weekend....... I do miss having a license. Id be driving to Wharton and spending the weekend by myself.

Was planning on having the wife drop me off in the woods somewhere on her way to Harrisburg to visit some of her family, but she found out tonight she is only going to be staying for the day instead of the entire weekend, and by the time i hike out far enough id have to hike back and would get barely any woods time. That and id be in a totally new place to me and by myself... Not that i mind that, but id want more than 4-5 hours...

Dont care for the wife's cousin so i wont be going with her....But i need to figure out something. Weather is suppose to be nice.

Blackberries are really starting to come in now. I doubt I'll have enough for a batch of wine, though... so I see jam in my future...

For a 5 gallon batch, I use 2 gallons of berry juice, 3 gallons of distilled water and 12 - 14 pounds of sugar (amount depends on berry sweetness and hydrometer reading after mixing and desired finish, sweet vs dry).

You could start out making a gallon batch - if you want, I could send you a 1 gallon recipe. Only needs about 6 lbs of VERY ripe berries (no red or partially red ones - they're tart, at the least).

I miss fresh wild blackberries. They grow all around my fathers property and growing up Id spend hours picking and eating them..... Blackberry pie is my favorite pie period.

This is the first time I ever had 'em on my own property. Dad used to take me out to the woods to pick 'em when I was a kid. Pick berries all afternoon and fish in the evening. Good times!

My friends and I used to walk the tracks for black berries, and wild strawberries. One of them's mom made us some homemade strawberry jam. Damn that was good.

Around here, we call the "wild" ones 'dewberries'. We use the term Blackberries for the "improved" varieties developed by Ag universities like Texas A&M or U of Ark. The dewberries are smaller, about the size of a regular marble (Blackberries are usually "shooter" sized or bigger), and have a (IMO) better flavor. I get my blackberries from fence planted brambles and the dewberries from the banks of a local lake.

I think this November/December, I'm gonna go dig up a dozen dewberries and start up a "dewberry vineyard". It's a pain to drag the boat 15 miles just to get berries. I can go fishing or pick berries, but not at the same time.

I totally feel you on the "family" issue. I will be at Blade so I won't be much help... Sorry...

I'll tell ya what I find funny. I punched up the map on google to see how LONG this was gonna take to get there, it said 9 hours ish, then I punched it up on Mapquest generally between the two it gives me a gross median time which told me 9.5 hours, ish. So I figured 9.25 hours is a good estimate. Then I decided to pull it up on my phone GPS. It says 7.25 hours. LOL my phone knows me so well!

2 more Pages since I went to bed?! Damn guys.
My favorite podcast is Cox n' Crendor in the morning, some of my favorite youtube guys with the most imaginative minds.
