I love Down Under Knives

U.S. law makes false advertising and disinformation a crime. I'll check on Oz.

Australian government site:

And they mean it:

Well, nice leg work. Problem is the knife in question has nothing to do with Australia other than the BS marketing.

Too true. But it is relevant to OP's claim that false advertising and disinformation is the essence of capitalism. Perhaps he meant Communism.

I'm just wondering where all the beautiful pictures of the OP's personal down unders are. Surely someone that passionate about a specific brand would have multiple examples and pictures in use.

I think the bottom line is simply the companies misleading advertising with both overt and implied quality and place of origin. If I name my company USA KNIVES, then only sell private label imports, without disclosing actual place of manufacture. That would be false advertising. And make me a crap business. And if someone is so adamant about hiding something that basic, how can anything be trusted, such as actual materials used.

There are too many quality companies to count that make great product outside of the US. But only a couple that I know of that falsify actual product origin. I don't own their product.

Quite simple and more to your point; he doesn't own one.

Wow, that pic is mine actually. Ole one though. I can tell it by the fact that I used to have these and that's my former apartment's floor. I have witnessed many knife shop stealing my pics before. Pathetic. Who are these guys this time?

Ps I can tell it by the lanyard too, light and pic quality (I used to photograph a lot)

Besides,,,,,despite what you guys claiming:If you were right with your claims here, than DUK-THE OUTBACK BOWIE WOULDNT BE PRESENTED ON FRONT COVERS OF BEST BLADE MAGAZINES ARROUND THE GLOBE IN NUMBER OF COUNTRIES.

That transition to pommel should be made better, however i think it's a very minor flaw and still extremly durable and tough hell of a knife. Going to get this one, because I believe it's well worth it and sure bet.....will let you know than man."That's not a knife! - THIS IS A KNIFE" glad that somebody brought this inspirational knife legend to life.

I like also Busse as you made purchase of Team Gemini in Sr101, but this one cost over 300 bucks (over my budget now) ...if Busse, than Battle Mistress in INFI (when I win lottery hopefully )
One question....Do you actually own a knife? Any knife, at all?

I bought and then sold an outback Bowie. I bought it simply because I'd always liked the design from the movies. Too much money, not enough knife. I didn't pay $250 but still paid too much. It was pretty, that's as far as I'll go.

I rarely if ever comment in this type of thread but I have to say, you are putting forth some deep BS. I would say you are a shill but that would be assuming that you even own a knife to shill for. You really need to reconsider posting this type of s%&$.
Seriously!

Ah, I see. :) just weird to see pic you hardly remember shooting heh

Well yeah. I was going to get a decent knife, thank you very much :)

I was just curious if there was an actual bowie from a maker for under $200.

I mean, let's be clear. Yes, people should support better business practices, named steels, good design, good practices...

But I don't think the answer is to tell people there are makers who can do it for under $200 when there aren't.

Personally, I'd recommend a cherokee rose: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...al-amp-t-Awesome-Buys?highlight=cherokee+rose

But to each their own. I will admit, for something as large and polished as the down under, there's not much I can think of that would be UNDER $200. Slightly over yes, but nothing I know of UNDER $200.

Zero

These guys will made up any BS nonsense, just to diminish what people with other taste and other opinion may have to say.Cost of the labour and cost of the material vary significantly between countries and continents and to be honest most knifemakers in Europe or USA are offering small utility or pocket knives with blades 3,4,5 inches with price tags often well over 200,300 € / £/$.....speaking of large, thick Bowie blades 11 inches +, be ready to fork out at least twice as much to begin with 500 and over... at least.

In Nepal,Pakistan,India,(Asia),ect.the costs of labour and material is significantly lesser and possibility to get something like this for under 200 bucks is real only there.

Yeah, I was agreeing with you that these guys are NOT being honest about buying a bowie in that size for under $200.

However, do you own the downunder bowie? I'd like to see pictures of it if so.

I think the reason you are getting so much negativity here, is because you are coming off like a representative from this company, whether you wanted to or not.
You say you are not, and we have to take your word for it, but that leaves two possibilities.
A: You have owned or used one of these knives, and would like to share your passion,, in which case, we would of love to see pictures of them in action or not. There's no shame in just liking a knife because of its aesthetics.
B: You have never held/used/owned this knife, but you are really interested because you like the way it looks and maybe have read a few articles or seen a video review or two. So you then post a question asking what people think.

Then 99.999999% of everyone tells you they are poor quality and have practiced bad business practices.
From that point shouldn't you say "ok thanks for your opinions, but I'm going to /not going to buy this knife now"

So which is it? Just to give some perspective here
Would love to hear back on this OP

No I don't own any of their products, not a single one, I like them entirely based on other people reviews,(they do score very high marks) youtube videos, knifecenter reviews, ect.A lot of guys do research on their desired blades before they actually decide to purchase them and a lot of guys like the blade very much based on their research, so as me....

Hey, no problem buddy! We've been trying to figure out whether you were admiring from afar, or one in hand.

I've stayed away because the price does seem relatively high compared to what you can get other places, and the reports of failing tangs makes me leery, as they specifically describe the tang as "super strong".

I saw that you have an HI chiruwa ang khola. Nice knife eh? Why not ask Yangdu what the cost would be for a Nepalese rendition of the dundee bowie? I'd be happy to help coordinate, and would probably be in for one myself.

I can tell you, I'd trust them to get it right.

Title of the thread: "I Love Down Under Knives". But you don't own one? Please.....This thread is a joke.

Dear Santa,

I know i had asked for other stuff, but if it's not too late, please cancel my request. Instead, I would really just ask that you and your assistants in the North Pole please lock this thread. Lock it down. Lock it tight. We've fed the troll so much that I fear he may grow powerful and destroy a village or two. We must cut off the source of his power.
For the sake of all that is good and right in this world, please hear my plea.

Should be using red thread locker. And maybe hand out some little yellow cards to the guy calling people names, not to mention the nonsense arguments he is making.
