Hi guys -

Good turnout this year!

I suck at drawing, but I have an idea for something fun. :D

Ok - please forgive my kindergarten-class drawing, Stomper said he could work with this scribble.

My idea is for a JK Throwing knife. One of my friends bought some throwing knives, and we had a blast throwing them. I have a big old piece of elm stump that I have on it's side that I throw at, but I don't have a throwing knife.

I figured I would just as soon have a JK Thrower than any other, so I scribbled out this design idea -

I hope that my design is selected but even if it isn't I sure hope you will make me one. I'm getting a beautiful piece of Afzelia burl for handles.

As far as I can tell, there have been 21 entries, but I have only received 11 emails with permission to use the designs!

The contest will be ending on February 28th! If you have a design, please enter soon!

10 inches overall
1 7/16 wide blade
4 5/8 handle
5 3/8 blade

Exposed tang, hand filling handle angled for some chopping power.
I think this high sabre grind is a good candidate for .188 O1.
I am thinking two 1/4" tubes and a 3/8" tube for pins and lanyard hole.

Thanks for this opportunity John.

Some really nice designs guys!

Here's mine, I named it the Hunter's Scandi. 4" handle, 4" X 1" wide blade. My idea was for a sportsman's blade that could handle skinning and game processing while also tackling bushcrafting and woodworking tasks as well. I also included a firesteel with a larger handle than is typical, shaped like the classic wood handled Moras. If you use a firesteel for more than just occasional or emergency fire starting, I think the longer more substantial handle makes it easier to use.

The paper got a little jazzed up as I was playing around with this quite a bit. :)

Throwing in a design John. Think of it as a Kephart with modified/contoured handle. This would be a good camp utility knife as well as pulling double duty as a good deer knife.

Some great designs in here and thanks for letting me participate!

edit to add: Stainless pins and lanyard tube.

Thanks John for the opportunity! Some good designs in here.

I meant for the top part of the handle to be more rounded, but I kept screwing it up and making it worse. :o
