I may have a problem. :(

I'm surprised no one has posted that picture of the fictional character Machete with all the knives strapped to his chest and inside his jacket like a cartoon black market salesman. (You wanna buy a watch?)

I think it's time you considered a carrying style similar to this, all joking aside.

I gotta admit, that image even makes me laugh.

But then again most of those knives he throws away doesn't he? :)

It's not because someone believe you have a problem, that you actually have a problem.
I'm kinda jealous actually, as a somewhat vertically challenged individual, I can't pack that much on me :(

Might be just a hint toward the excessive but I carry a Case medium Stockman I got with my dad, two SAK my best half gave me that have different tool assortments, a Spyderco Caly 3.5, and a Buck Responder in a belt sheath. I'd probably carry just the Caly and Responder if it weren't for the special connection with the others. The Caly swaps out with various other knives and if I get a Spyderco Assist Salt I'm thinking about I'll swap back and forth with the Responder. So I guess for me it's more than 5 knives that's maybe a little bit much but not really anything until someone gets up to a dozen or more maybe.

I like the 'adorable eccentric'. ;)

Someone mentioned that having more knives made us want to use them more. How to use them if they are not with you? So I also ended up carrying multiple just to enjoy the opening & closing (backlock is best), different handle, steels and sometimes different edge finishes just to try. It's a hobby and as long as not getting into trouble, why not.

Alright, the Mrs says I have a problem, I say not. This was what I had in my pockets walkin' out the door this morning, maybe I do have a slight problem.

Now this is no joke, I really do carry this many knives, plus a pistol and a multi tool or bigger SAK.

Think I have a problem?

BTW, I left 3 knives home which 3 would you have left?

Yeah, what's the problem I don't see a problem?

You wife is probably right, but life is too short not to explore your hobbies. Keep it up!

You must have a lot of pockets.

Yes, you have a problem if that's your daily carry. What's the rationale for all of that? Convince I'm nuts and not you.

I tell her, "...some people play candy crush, some people collect and use knives."

I'd like to add this too, if I have a knife in my pocket, I'm gonna use it, if I have a few knives in my pocket, I'm gonna share the load. My knives don't stay sharper longer because of some super secret steel and proprietary sharpening system. They stay sharper longer because they they cut half as much when shared amongst the other blades.

My wife only gives me a funny look if I take more than my usual gear which is
1 pistol
1 multitool
1 flashlight
1 large modern folder
1 traditional slip joint
1 keychain knife
And sometimes I carry a Barlow for her

But any more than that and she will ask if it's necessary to which I always say yes ;)

Random Redundant Reassurance, a false sense of security brought on by the belief that multiples in anything can only make any situation better. Notice the word Rational was never used. ;)

Why was that what I put in my pocket? Actually that wasn't so random, those knives accumulated over the week. As I changed out my jeans I just moved the knives and out of pure laziness they stayed. That and I picked them during the week because I liked them. The large Ebony inlay 21 is a fantastic knife and could easily by itself accomplish 3/4 of the jobs I encounter in a day but for 2 things. First it's a beautiful knife and I wouldn't subject it to the rigors of it's smaller plain Jane sister. Also it's not as office or people friendly as any of the four smaller slip joints and the little Silver Knight which by the way is a superb blade designed by Al Mar during his tenure at Gerber International.

That one I actually just tossed into my watch pocket this mornin'. Simple perfection of the cutler's art, F&F unmatched at that price to this day. That one I had been playin' with pickin' a splinter from under my fingernail and the more I played with it the more I remembered what a great knife it was and the journey collectin' 4 of them from the late 70s generation and learning the connection Al Mar with the design.

The other slip joints all support the I wanna be able to put my hand in any available pocket and pull out a particular life for the job at hand. Again, I like havin' a lockin' blade available in every pocket with the added advantage of various sizes and patterns of locking blades. The ZT 0808 is an awesome pig sticker, the reinforced point begs to be pushed through something and it's great at it, cans, plastic, cardboard... If you're lookin' to start a hole in something you couldn't pick a better knife except maybe a heavy duty punch on a harness jack. The Rexford inspired design excels in many ways, as a really radical Wharncliffe you don't have to worry about the typical fragility of the average Wharncliffe. If you needed the precision though the Lone Wolf/Loveless City knife can't be beat and it's still office friendly and not likely to draw any attention in public, whether cuttin' coupons or holes in a leather flange gasket.

The Solitaire is a great splinter picker, slim profile single blade knife with a reasonable length blade on it and the SS makes for a great apple/fruit slicer Also like many of the knives I carry regularly it was a gifted knife from a friend and it reminds me daily of the great folks I've met here in the last 20 years.

Keepin' with the knife for every pocket theme I like to carry at least one cf blade to offset the additional weight of all the other Ti, bone, brass and steel I normally carry. What do they say? Save your weight wherever you can? :) The CF and Ti don't save much but it certainly has a psychological effect on me to the contrary. :) :)

I always EDC'd a fixed blade because well you know, it really doesn't need an explanation does it? Sometimes nothing short of a fixed blade will do. :) The JK Element O1 was a gift and is up to most but not all tasks thereby the reasoning for the other knives.

Now weren't you sorry you asked? ;)

The bare essentials

Do what you wanna do. For me, it's too many. It would take 30 minutes minimum to decide which knife to use to cut a loose thread.

I carry a modern folder and a small slipjoint, along with my wallet, keyfob, small flashlight, and insulin pump. Thats enough weight for me. I keep a Vic super tinker in my medicine bag.
