I need another Mnandi thread to read.

Keep using that leather pouch, placing the the knife in the same way each time. If you look at my EDC photo a couple posts back, you'll see how the pouch eventually takes on the shape of the knife, like conformally coated plastic on plier grips. When it gets "broken in" in this fashion, the pouch holds the Mnandi quite securely. If you then squeeze the edges of the pouch like you would one of those old-style oval coin carriers, the Mnandi is released.

Almost looks like you wet formed the sheath like another member did a little while back. Either way, it certainly looks secure.

Thanks for the prompt. For my 1st pouch, the forming was due to regular use -- I'm sure a certain amount of sweat was involved :). In the case of my 2nd pouch, I did indeed sponge water onto the outside of the leather to accelerate the process. End results were similar.

The Mnandi is a great addition to the large Sebenza that rides in a belt sheath.
Mine goes clipless.
It can handle most of the daily tasks, plus it doesn't scare people around you if you fondle it.

I've only had my Mnandi about a week now, and when I first bought it, I thought I'd only use it on campus/at work, or for formal events, and all other times my Large 21 would still be in my pocket. But as I continue to use both, the Mnandi continues to inch its way into my pocket more and more.

It really is the perfect every day carry knife. You get an extremely light and small blade that still has a titanium framelock, nice pocket clip, and premium blade steel. The knife pretty much disappears in your pocket, I love it. And really, when are most of us ever going to need bigger blade on a day to day basis than what the Mnandi provides?

I noticed that the pouch on my small seb is perfect, ever since I dropped it in water..

maybe ill do that to the mnandi as well.

it really is the perfect edc knife.

Thanks all for adding to the thread. I too love the Mnandi as an EDC. I'm using mine with the clip but no sheath. Looking forward to seeing how it ages over the years.

Do you clip to the pocket? Or do you let it sit at the bottom of your pocket? Or some other method?

I'm also interested to see how mine ages, as it has Lignum inlays, which are supposed to get more green and colored as time goes on.

I clip it to my pocket. The hold is very snug, though I make a habit of checking for it periodically.
I just saw your Lignum Mnandi in another thread, very nice!

Thanks!

I end up checking for mine all the time, it's just so light that it feels like it's gone!

The Lignum scales on the Mnandi may not "green-up" like bare Lignum. They are "stabilized".
When I put some other Lignum in sunlight, the UV turns the oils in the outer fibers as green as grass! I haven't had that happen with my Mnandi Lignum. It holds it's freshly cut tan color without any indication that it might become more green. Maybe some were not stabilized? The upside of this is that the feather grain is much more visible in the freshly cut tan Lignum than when it gets a deep green.

Thanks for clearing that up. Luckily my inlays have some great green in them already, which I love.

Also, nice grab on that Camel Thorn Mnandi John, I'm very jealous that you got to it before I could. Give me first dibs if you ever decide to part with it? :p

I got lucky on the Camel Thorn.
I just happened to check the forum a few minutes after it posted, and hit the reply box as fast as I could!
That seems to be the only way to get the really choice knives.
I also happen to have one of the 17 RoF's now... same story!
I am married to a South African, and now seem to have the bug for South African inspired knives.
I may need therapy.

I clicked on the thread the moment I saw it...But I just wasn't fast enough! That's a beautiful Camel thorn, one of my favorite inlays.

Can we see a picture of your Mnandi collection John?

Pretty soon I'm going to have to sharpen the blade. Mnandi is getting daily use!

Carrying mine today as well. Every time I carry my Mnandi I fall in love with this knife even more.
