How's that Ardbeg Dark Cove?
What's a good Scotch to try for someone that is a bourbon fan?
So far, I have tried, and liked, the following:
Glendiddich 15 Solera Cask
Glenlivet 12 & 15
Balvenie 12 Double Wood
Cragganmore 12
Macallan
GlenDronach Allardice 18
I've tried some that tasted like licking a bandaid, and didn't care much for that.
Lagavulin has an 8 yr old now. Little easier on the wallet then the 16

Unless you're referring to heavily phenolic/smokey peat flavor with the bandaid comment, I'd steer you towards a milder Islay like Ardbeg 10 (tastes like Lagavulin 16 at about 2/3 the price).
The one I tried, I think it was a Talisker, was very peaty/smokey. I have to ease my way in to those, so looking for something lightly peated/smoked, so I can become accustomed to it.
I'll have to check it out, though I feel like even the 16 may be coming back down from its frothy highs of a few years ago. Lately it has been on sale in the $65 range here in Hawaii.
I would load up on the 16 at that price. Wow! It's been solid at $90 here for the past couple years.

Much lighter Islay: bruichladdich or bunnahabhain
