Just use a high speed camera and u started this now u have to do it and do.nt worry about the nay sayers some people will complane about anything just like the commies complaining about all the freedom we still have lol

I can't wait to see this do it and have fun doing so and prove all the naysayer wrong and use a few more knives to prove busse is the toughest

I know it's your blade and since you asked, and Jerry answered and said it's going to die so if you do it, thenI don't see how he should cover it. I don't see why he should cover it even if he didn't answer. What company for what item is going to cover their product if you shoot it? Maybe a bullet proof vest but then again if you are dumb enough to wear it when testing it, then if it fails, then I don't think you will need to ask for a refund.
 
I would love to see you shoot a knife and i think you should do it.
however if it were mine, i would never in a thousand years shoot it.
 
I would never ask Busse or Jerry to replace this knife if I shot it! That was a joke!!! Of course it is going to have a hole in it. I am sure infi is not tough enough for a .50 cal round. I am going to shoot it though! I am going to take a shot with 750 g Hornady A-Max bullet, but right now I only have one round with this bullet. If I miss, I will be shooting it with a 660 g Ball Bullet.

I am wondering now if the bullet is going to pass straight through or is it going to go through and also bend the blade? I hope it doesn't bend, as I could still use the blade, if I do hit it in the center.

Do I think this is a stupid thing to do? Hell yes!!! I cannot afford to do this, but I going to do it anyway!!

I think in the back of most people's mind here, is that they would like to see what happens when I do this. So, I will set up my video camera, zoomed in to get it as far away as possible, yet see the BWM up close. I am not sure if I have a slow motion mode on it or not, but I will do it that way if possible.

This will be done this weekend and I will post up the pics and video when I am finished. More than likely Sunday night.

For the person above that wanted to donate $100.00 to me for this to be done, Hell, if you want to, that is fine. But, I am not looking to get any money or anything for doing this. Especially, I am not going to be asking Busse to replace my knife!!!! That would be more stupid than shooting it in the first place.

I think I will just donate it to Jerry for him to look at, if he would like it?
 
if the blade Survived ， do you wanta a move up to .50 ball? :D

Just shoot it with an API round with a good solid backing to put it up against. It shoud just drill a nice hole in it if done properly. As for the Amax i'm not sure about it. But API's will definatly bore some awesome holes in some thick steel. Good luck and don't shoot at it too close those jackets have been known to come right back at you sometimes.
 
send the blade to me and i'll ship you a couple of bowling balls to shoot :thumbup::thumbup::D
bowling balls would be much less heart-wrenching to watch explode
 
In answer to your question about shooting the knife .... and should you do it .... there are a lot of soldiers who cannot afford Busse's .... and would definately value yours if it is surplus to requirements ....

Entertainment is one thing .... failing to value something which another would appreciate and is doing a lot for you is another ....

Send it to a soldier shipping out to Afghanistan and ask him to send you some pic's of it being used "in theatre" ....

That would be a much cooler and better appreciated act than simply destroying the knife for a cheap ( sorry expensive! ) thrill ....

Find all of the pieces and show them to us.

Have a drink to honor it's memory.
 
You can get plate steel pretty cheap. 5.56 pokes holes in it at 50 yards no problem and it doesn't even have to be ss109/m855, just regular ball ammo. Your BWM will be a total loss after you shoot it with your .50 BMG. If you want a hole in it, use a drill press. :foot:

Whoa whoa whoa.... WHOA!!!! Every time we get into the age ol' argument of safe queen versus user, and a knife's value based on collectability vs useability it always boils down to one thing: Different strokes for different folks, do what makes you happy, its your knife enjoy it as you will...

We've seen countless people doing retarded tests and intentionally destroying perfectly good Busses "just for information sake". We've seen plenty of people treating unobtainable knives and swords to some, as mere test objects and whimsical subjects of abuse. We've seen literally hundreds of knives unused and strewn about garages and top shelves and under cabinets and stored in foam lined tool chests... :rolleyes:

A guy comes up with the idea of shooting his Busse with a 50 BMG just for sh!ts and giggles and suddenly we're concerned with "other people" that could benefit more from his knife?

Come on guys. Either send the fun police home and let the dummy shoot his big knife with his big gun or put my name on the list for poor unfortunate souls eligible to receive one free satin gladius for the purpose of swinging it at a car hood.:D

as long as your shooting solid lead bullets (which I don't believe is possible for .50bmg), there shouldn't be a problem. But get a steel or (don't remember the other) core bullet,or a jacketed bullet (which I believe all .50bmg are), and you will bust the blade. therefore, I say NO!!!!!!!!

by the way...what I was saying is about an edge on shot, not a side shot.

It's a free world but if you check back long enough I have always recommended giving a knife to some one who cannot afford it and would use it rather than destroying it for "sh!ts and giggles" .... it is'nt the first time we have had posts like this .... and my feelings are always the same .... and if you post a "question" as to whether you should do it .... the "No's" have just as much entitlement to post as the "Yes's" ....

Yeah, I agree. No argumentative or judgmental tone implied. And he did ask, which opens it up to opinions. But the same "no, because..." reasoning can be applied to a lot of other scenarios (like I listed) around here, and seldom are. His destroyed BWM is no less beneficial to a soldier (or anyone less fortunate) than the hundreds of shiny Busse knives that never see the light of day in a safe... but you don't see anyone suggesting those get turned over to someone who will put it to good use.

Busse, by their very price and nature are prone to gluttonous owners and frivolous uses. I'm not surprised some dude wants to blow it away with a hand cannon just because he can, any more than the guy that has 20 NMFBMLE's and has never used one of them. Both are equally heinous and wasteful crimes I can't afford. But who am I to say?
