Man i have been thinking about ponying up and starting small with a Busse and I read this stuff alot, figure most of you guys are crazy etc. But to watch a guy threaten to shoot his knife (which isn't like shooting a production knife) and then see the creator of the knife offer to shoot one of his own to save his customers knife...

You guys are crazy.

And I can't wait to get my first Busse.

Oh, And I keep picturing Jerry Busse as Gary Busey which of course makes the whole thing even better. Imagine Gary Busse armed with a bunch of these blades.

I don't know about the knife .... but Skunk certainly seems to have FUBAR'd the guys sense of humour ....:D:D:eek:

Hey how about instead of shooting the knife, you see how much damage you can inflict to the gun with the knife? :D

Maybe as a tribute to the OP Jerry and Skunk can host a sponsored shoot at Knob Creek .... bring along the box of messed up knives and set them out at different distances in the machine gun valley .... Garth and the crew bring down the .50's and for a fee you get 5 shots at whatever distance feels doable ... hit the knife and you get an offical Busse "pan and brush" to sweep the bits up with ..... :D:D

Just to remind you what you would be left holding if you did it to your own .... :D

I'm thinking an episode of Mythbusters - INFI vs Supersonic Projectiles - AWESOME

I think that's a truly awesome idea. I think the guys at Mythbusters would love to get their hands on an engineering marvel like a Busse. Its always good to have the toughest anything on a show like that.

Hey man! Come back to the forum! I didn't send you the PM so it doesn't count.

You can do whatever you want to that blade of yours. If you hit the edge dead center with a non-jacketed .50BMG round it will easily survive.

However, they don't make a non-jacketed .50BMG because the bullet would melt before it left the muzzle and you would basically just be shooting a super hot lead droplet!!!!:D

If you don't hit the blade near dead center or hit it from the side, it will most likely be Bye Bye Busse Blade!!!!

So here's an idea!!!! I'll round up some screwed up Busse Combat blades that we have here at the shop and I'll shoot 'em with my Barrett .50BMG

That way we'll all know what will happen and there's no chance of destroying a perfectly good knife!!!

Let's Drink!!!!

Jerry :D

Yeah, I agree. No argumentative or judgmental tone implied. And he did ask, which opens it up to opinions. But the same "no, because..." reasoning can be applied to a lot of other scenarios (like I listed) around here, and seldom are. His destroyed BWM is no less beneficial to a soldier (or anyone less fortunate) than the hundreds of shiny Busse knives that never see the light of day in a safe... but you don't see anyone suggesting those get turned over to someone who will put it to good use.

Busse, by their very price and nature are prone to gluttonous owners and frivolous uses. I'm not surprised some dude wants to blow it away with a hand cannon just because he can, any more than the guy that has 20 NMFBMLE's and has never used one of them. Both are equally heinous and wasteful crimes I can't afford. But who am I to say?

Couldn't agree more!
