I thought these were overbuilt? Direware lock fail (brand new knife)

The actual blade is really thin. The spine is "thick" but it is ground to a a pretty thin edge so it would have done fine in those tasks in terms of blade geometry. And no a box cutter type razor isnt that great on tough plastics and drywall you do indeed want a thicker knife for those two things.

So, a wedge shape, which is exactly what you wouldn't want for drywall cutting. o_O

Not quite. So, in the meantime while you're waiting for your money back, what are you looking at now? I mean, that survival, bushcrafting, construction work isn't going to do itself right?

Well, I already stated that I have other knives that can do the work so again please read more carefully so you can stop wasting so much time deriving your own ideas and making your assumptions based upon what you think you see on the screen.

I'm sorry, you seem to have missed my question*, and a statement that you have other knives isn't really an answer But that's ok, so I'm inferring that you aren't going to get another knife because you have other knives that can do those tasks already? I mean, I can't blame you. Spending $1,000 for Instagram likes, only to get a finger guillotine kinda leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Can't blame you at all, man.

*Something, something reading comprehension. LOL

lmao. The statement said "I have other knives THAT CAN DO THE WORK". You blind bastard lmao.

OP needs to hunt down a Spyderco Farid K2. No amount of spine whacking is going to make that frame lock fail! o_O (As Farid intended.)

You might want to watch your language, this is a family friendly forum. :)
nah im ok.

Im so glad that you say "so I'm inferring that you aren't going to get another knife because you have other knives that can do those tasks already?"
when I literally just got done telling you i had knives that can perform those tasks. This is exhibit A of what youve been doing this whole thread. Literally ignoring whole halfs of sentences so you could "infer" what you want. Its been very annoying to say the least but im glad we are here so maybe now it is clear what youve been doing.

Instead of being the cocky fool youve been just chill out with your bs bro bc it hasnt helped at all.

Wow this thread went salty Fast. Im a commercial electrician and I use a knife every day 6 days a week. I'm also a sucker for slick, over built knives and have a few but honestly my work knife for the past year has been a $60 dollar Kershaw blur and it's never let me down. I have stripped miles of 500 mcm Copper cable and it never seems to dullen my blades but still I wouldn't use or need anything more expensive than that. So IMO you should send it back if you haven't already and grab a Kershaw or anything else in the $80 dollar range for work if it really is work you want it for and when it falls off a 10 foot ladder onto the concrete you won't feel as sick.

This can't be possible, Blurs don't come with hawkbill slasher blades. I've heard stories that that blade shape is the best for hard construction and bushcraft use. Wire-stripping and bushcraftjering, hard use! We've all heard the legends!

My little Brother is a Electrician as well. After a month his knives end up looking like they were dragged by a motorcycle through gravel lol. But the blades and locks are all still good. He won't use a knife over $100 either despite myself and many other people giving him free knives in that price range.

My bad! I am certainly learning new things from the OP...

Keep it up, champ, please.
I dont care honestly dude. They can kick me. I made this account two days ago just to see if anyone knew if the direware was capable. And I had to buy one to find out bc no one here knew.
and before anyone here says "we said not to get it etc."

No one here said anything about a failing lock. So sure ppl were right but for the wrong reasons which really doesnt merit any credit.

Actually, plenty of people knew that Direware knives are terrible. You were warned. That you chose not to heed that warning, and had to spend over a grand* (LOL) to find out the hard way is really on you and no one else.

But hey, at least now you know! Don't buy knives that were made famous by Instagram! A valuable lesson, to be sure.

* I still have to laugh, of all the actual quality knives you could have bought with a thousand bucks...
