I want to believe - Survive! Speculations! Get it here!

If I had to speculate I would guess slightly fewer options? I am not sure there is a single other midtech-production maker that has soooo many handle/bow drill/firesteel groove options, its crazy the variety!!

I don't know Guy's priorities, if variety is important or a big selling point for his knives. I'm not a bowdriller so personally I wouldn't miss the bowdrill option. The sharper spines would make the fire notch just a perk instead of the only way to make a GSO strike sparks. Black, natural, green and camo canvas seem to be the most popular handle options. Throw in orange and maybe black G10 (to keep Riz happy). Maybe not even that many options.

The "bottle neck" is the one man sharpening. Maybe the change is to get another person sharpening even if that means each knife doesn't arrive atom splitting sharp. Guy has really made a name for himself with how sharp his knives arrive to customers, but personally I wouldn't complain if they came with just a good working edge.
I agree, no factory edge lasts forever so the only knife that stays sharp is the one that doesn't get used.
The thing I love about Guy's edges is that they are even! I don't have to put any work into the knife to clean it up and fix the final bevels.

Better keep that orange or I might go ape on a mofo!
As would be expected from the Agent of Orange ;)

The sharpness on arrival seems like a point of pride for Guy and he has definitely earned that. Now I've been dwelling on these impending changes way more than I should (I'm home sick today, so my mind is unoccupied and wandering more than usual) and I keep going back to making the options more streamlined.

And YES uneven grinds and bevels seems to be an acceptable feature to a lot of people. It is something that bothers me personally even if I'm in the minority.

So... I just heard Ellie mentioning Black Friday in another thread. Does that mean we can all knock on their door for a healthy discount?!?! She even said "you might even be able to get the same deal online"... ;)

So, ok, maybe I took that out of context. But a fanboy can dream, no? ;)

Straight from Guy on instagram about the mystery steel.

"There is CPM-20CV, CPM-154, and a 1% carbon type steel I'm trying out for our SK series. I'm pretty excited about it but I'm not quite ready to spill the beans on what it is. The CPM-3V blades will also be back from heat treat soon."

For some reason... I am going to predict that the mystery steel is

Latrobe Specialty Steels PGK. Its a powder steel version of Vascowear. Its a 1% carbon steel. It can achieve hardness of 63 and has wear resistance similar to D2 and higher toughness.

I could be wrong.

What can I say, Im a nerd. There is only one other company I know of that is using that steel. I like readng about all of the chemical compositions of steels and how they effect the properties of the steels.

That would be some tough stuff! I wonder how much flex it will have at that hardness?

Don't know. The one thing that I wasn't considering is that the SK series is supposed to be a budget line. I don't know if that steel would make it more pricey
