I wanted to hate Yeller Derlin, but....

Delrin is pretty good stuff for scales. Even though it has no texture without jigging, it has a warm feel to it kind of like bone. And there has been some pretty good dyed(?) jigged delrin that's hard to distinguish from the real thing.

It's good stuff IMO. I recall seeing a number of yellow knives throughout my childhood, and to the present, yellow Case knives are probably the most common were I live. Nearly everybody carries one it seems. I have to be different though and carry a Yellow Buck, this 301 is one of my favorite knives.

SAK guy, I have 119 Frontiers so I have a modest collection.

Picture is when I got to 100 Frontiers

Geeze Louise edbeau! That's a great collection!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm flush with SAKs like that so don't need another addiction er, I mean, "area" to collect...I'll roll with these two for now but I sure like what I see in your pix!

Btw I have a 4322 and a 4323 coming!

Thanks I don't collect, I accumulate. I still lack a few for a complete set. 43 series are called 4" Premium Stock. The 4322 was made from 1976 to 1982 and the scales are called Ivory. The 4323 was made in 1976 and cost $8.75. The 4322 cost $12.95. 43 is the series, 2 is the amount of blades and the last digit is the type of scale. 1 was Stag, 2 Ivory, 3 Yellow, 4 was Black and 5 was Wood.

I'm fairly certain my new addition NOS 835Y Schrade Walden is Delrin and not celluloid. Now I just need to find its bigger brother...

Although I'm considering commissioning a custom version of this knife in Westinghouse yeller, wouldn't it be great if one of the top makers would introduce a shadow stockman with scales such as Sheffield antique ivory micarta, yellow G10, etc?! Hint Hint! ;)

Now to pocket this knife which begs to be used:

Delrin makes a great scale material on a working knife. I love my nice stag but There's a place for Delrin too.

Here's my AG Russell folding hunter ( made by Camillus )
