Damned I wasn't awared about that and the website doesn't show the frame side of the knife. Poor communication on that modification IMHO.
I have a Damascuss one incoming and almost want to send it back. That sucks.

The design helps hide it, I'm sure, but it's also because it's small and the lines of each letter are thin. If it was small like this on the regular 21, I think it'd be much less objectionable.

Any chance for more pics of your Starbenza?

I just pulled the trigger on a NIB Small Sebenza w/o the "Idaho Made" lettering. I had wanted one for awhile, and once I saw this, I had to just get one now. Although I am not outraged by the addition of the wording and engraving, I don't think it looks as attractive, sleek, or nearly as clean as the previous ones without the engraving. Keep the CR, drop the Idaho.

I bet Mr. Reeve's is enjoying us purchasing all his non "Idaho" stamped knives right now as they seem to be selling pretty good according to this thread... lol.
I was planning on purchasing a damscus one for a while and finally got the funds but I was just fiddling around looking at different ones, and when I heard this it just made me go ahead and get the small one I have been pondering over for weeks, lol. It should be here tomorrow. I will post up pics in this thread when I get it.. everyone ready for some sebenza "Porn!"

Just remember, everyone, this is one of the many reasons Duct Tape was invented.

Just a couple small strips of tape.... Problem Solved!

I bought my small Sebenza 21 from a member here a couple of weeks ago. I like it, so much in fact I had to get the large one. So I ordered a large Sebenza 21 from TNK and received it Monday. It's stunning and has a silver thumb stud and bushing. Now that this new "Idaho Made" is becoming available, I'll have to get a pair just in case the lettering is dropped from production, making them instantly collectible.
Except for an Old Timer lock back folder, my entire collection is autos. I've got 20 or so and all are high dollar, high end examples. But no auto can be carried legally here unless one has but one arm. So, my EDC is the small Sebenza 21. I didn't know of Chris Reeve knives until I joined this forum and after reading and seeing the photos of them I had to see for my self. They're very finely made of great materials. I will definitely be getting the two spuds.;)

Let me make one thing clear... To say that you will not buy a new knife from Chris Reeve with the IDAHO MADE engraving because you simply don't like the way it looks, is NOT considered "boycotting"!

If I want to buy another Sebenza, I'm going to buy one without the engraving off the second hand market. Or I'm going to wait until they stop engraving their knives. It's pretty straight forward. People buy stuff that they like, and they don't buy stuff that they don't like. Most of us don't like the engraving. Therefore we aren't going to buy it.

Enough with this "boycotting" nonsense.
I beg to differ my friend........ :)

The word "boycott" sure seems to fit many, not all; of the posts in this thread.

Of course people are free to buy what they like, that goes without saying.

Of course people are free to have an opinion about what they like, as well as they are free to express it..... that goes without saying also. ;)

But when people refuse to buy a product they have previously been happy with because of a slight change, and state that change as the reason for no longer buying said product.... along with the hopes that the maker of the product will "come to his senses" and reverse his decision because he will no longer have their business...... what would you call it?????

Sure, they are free to do that; as well as post it on here, Facebook, or wherever for the world to read.

But.. call it what it is... a "BOYCOTT". Simple as that. :)

I like it, so I guess that's a +3. I don't think I've ever seen anything with "Idaho Made" on it and again, I think it's pretty cool and a good thing to do for the state.

I think it SUCKS. I am not from Idaho. Hell I didnt like the classic on them. I wont be buying Idaho ones. If it gets to were I have to Ill take a dremal to it

This I agree with.

Did people swear off CRK when the Regular pattern was nixed? Something tells me they didn't. :)

I did:D But, the 21 is growing on me. I plan on getting a few. I just don't care for the placement of Idaho made.

Fair enough ;)...same way I won't be buying a knife with a big ESEE on the blade and handle.

Who am I kidding, I have two (soon to be three) Regulars and only have an Insigno because of the blade shape. :D

I for one really like it. People should be happy they are made here in the USA and not some foreign junk made overseas !!! I have always wanted, but not acquired yet a Large Classic with the XX on the backside - ONLY because it has that engraving. I know I will get one someday, so for some people, me included, like the little extra that Chris put into the knives.

I think the "Idaho Made" looks terrible and I will not buy a knife with that engraving. I live in Texas and would rather not see Idaho Made every time I use my $400 knife. Made in the USA discretely engraved somewhere on the knife in nice lettering would be patriotic, but I could give a rats ass if the knife is made in Idaho. Maybe they could do a sprint run of these "specially" engraved knives for the folks in Idaho and leave the rest of our knives alone. I think CRK is making a mistake messing around with their product line and doing all of these colaborations. It just makes the overall CRK product line less desireable to me. To me these things cheapen up their image. I can't even say "Starbenza" with a straight face.:barf:

That's not really the same though. ESEE is a logo and chances are you (specifically) probably don't like ESEE knives anyway judging by that one singular post.

There's no doubt in anyone's mind CRK's are made in the USA though. The XX makes it a bit special too. The "Idaho Made" placement, size, font, looks terribly out of place.

Collaborations are some of the best things to happen to the knife community though... ESEE and RYP, Kai and Hinderer, Spyderco/everyone they've done business with.

Teacher your post is too long to quote :D Call it what you want, but the Idaho Made is an aesthetic deterrent and nothing more. I'm not boycotting his products but I'll look for non-engraved knives first on the exchange first, although what I want is too specific I'm sure to find.

:D ..... I can't argue with that Mike, it was a bit "long". :D

Hey, I don't blame you a bit for trying to get what you want. I personally don't consider that a boycott at all.

To me- IDAHO MADE - looks just fine and it will not in any way affect my future purchases. BUT, that is just my opinion; each has their own.

However.... some of the posts I read, came across to me; as "strong arm tactics"... for lack of better words. That is all I was trying to address as asinine.... IMO. ;)

Have a good one and good luck finding what you are looking for.... :)
