If Ya Could Only Keep One ?

Since I can back up this one knife with axes/hatchets and tools, if I just could have one knife to cover the things a knife is needed for, I'd probably go with a 710D2.

It would have to be my Randall model 25-5. Awesome knife. Add an axe and a saw and you're set.

Hmmm. Only one for the rest of my life? It would have to endure repeated sharpenings.

I'll have to go overboard and say my 20" 51 ounce HI YCS. Would the 2 kardas that come with it count or not?

Yeah, impractical as hell but oh well.

If I could only have one edge, I'd want my fiskars hatchet above all else. To me that is a primitive toolmaker's tool, but since the question was what single knife would I pick, then I would have to say my LM Wave. It has the plain edge (fuzz sticks and meat), the serrated edge(rope and fabric), and the saw(wood and bone). It's also a great tool for scavenging useful stuff from defunked machinery, e.g. screws, nuts-and-bolts, bike spokes, wire, nails, staples, etc.. It has an awl and scissors, so I could use it to sew odd scraps of cloth or fur into a useful blanket, coat, or sail. It has a wire cutter, several screwdrivers, and pliers in case I needed to repair some electrical wiring or electronic equipment. The saw helps me cut poles for a shelter or vines for water. And the plain edge knife opens one-handed, in case I need a last-ditch weapon. For my way of thinking, a strong multi like an LM Wave or Surge would be what I'd choose as my last knife forever and ever. In fact almost anything that says Leatherman on it (except some of those new folders) would be higher priority for me than any fixed blade on the planet. Same-same for the Gerber and Swiss multi's.

If it was only one it would be a tough decision between my Busse AD or Fallkniven S1. I'd probably end up going with the S1 since it would be a better fit for use around salt water or in the winter.

The one that you keep is the one you have with you when keeping it.:p

Some will think I'm nuts, but I'd keep my Vic Farmer. If I was forced to keep only one KNIFE, that would be it.

I can alway pair it up with as many AXES/HATCHETS as I care to.:D

Same here. A Vic Farmer.

Currently I would go smaller than most and say a Bark River Canadian Special as it is reputed to work well at anything that comes up. I have one and so far have to say the reputation is deserved.

Well.... logically I'd be better off with my EDC than with my woods stuff, so I'm going with my trusty Kershaw Lahar. It lives in my pocket. If I get to cheat and have a hatchet as well, then I'm even set for the woods.

May have to be this one:

Or this one:

Probably both. No way to choose one...

Fer Zombies though, there would be no problem choosing one:

I would probably choose a Case Peanut in CV for a folder or my Queen Country Cousin. As for a fixed blade I would choose the BRKT Mini-Northstar and then my Carbon Hardgrip Mora. I am pretty sure I could live with that.

That would be a difficult choice. I would certainly go with a smallish EDC fixed blade, at most 4 or so inches of blade. It would have to be something that I could hold in my hand and use all day without being uncomfortable with it. There would be no reason to take a huge chopper knife or something like that, since I could always take axes and saws along.
