If Ya Could Only Keep One ?

Ilbruche- That's a hell of a nice looking khukuri!

To be practical since I hunt and fish a lot and also do quite a bit of cooking, it would have to be a good boning knife which would work for filleting fish, skinning and cutting meat and veggies. A big stiff blade knife just would not cut it. So to speak.:)

I would probably choose a Case Peanut in CV for a folder or my Queen Country Cousin. As for a fixed blade I would choose the BRKT Mini-Northstar and then my Carbon Hardgrip Mora. I am pretty sure I could live with that.

Those Country Cousins are very high on my list of favorites. It always surprises people when they see all the colorful, flashy, trendy, quick opening knives in my collection, and then I point over to the Country Cousin and say "that's the best knife out of them all....":D

if i knew that i would most likely stop buying knives:foot:

i hope to find it someday though.;)

I think I found it, the "One." It's a fixed blade, which means I can't carry it EVERYWHERE but it's small enough that I can carry it most places and on most occasions, it's thin enough to do deep cutting, and it should perform great outside, considering its name.

It's the Dozier K-7 Slim Outdoorsman, and I think I've finally found a fixed blade that suits me for every day usage. If I wasn't currently so enamoured with fixed blades I might have said Sebenza, which would be my other choice as it has yet to disappoint me in any way.

I considered the Fallkniven S1 and Koster Bushcraft, which I really, really like, but both are too thick to be suitable for deep cutting which I find myself doing most often, since outdoorsy stuff is one of my less frequent uses for knives. If I had to pick a knife for just wilderness stuff, I'd pick one of those two.

It would have to be my Busse Mud Razor, but DAM would I miss my Bark River Bravo 1 and Canadian Camp...

I`d have to say, with a big possibility that i`d miss my SAK, the one knife i`d keep, is my WM1. Small enough to carry almost anywhere, and big enough to do most tasks i need it to do.

Jack Black Knives U1 - Serial number 001.

I would opt for my Early HI Sanu made YCS. It is about 17 1/2"-28oz. It comes with two full sized karda and an awl. It is still my favorite khuk/outdoors chopper.

I can hunt, skin, butcher, cook and do all other outside chores with this one.

One knife, just one, RAT3. Not too big, not to small just right. If chopper, fixed and folding, Ontario 12" cutlass machete, Rat3 and SAK Soldier.

I have a similar knife from Otter, a very traditional company in Solingen.

I have this model:

It has a carbon steel blade (C75) and a backlock, but it's also available as a slipjoint and these knives cut better than all my other folders (including strider:rolleyes:). The price is so low and the performance is so high, it beats all the china crap - and it doesn't even smell toxic like cheap chinese products do, it's all made of traditional components, plus, it's handmade! It has no straight line (character!;)) and is very lightweight, but it works perfectly. I love it!

Would I choose this knife if I could only have one? Can't answer that, but among my folders it's my favorite for sure!

It would have to be my Randall model 25-5. Awesome knife. Add an axe and a saw and you're set.
Scott

Randall 25-5 Trapper is my pick also.Toss in a good saw maybe one of the silkysaw's mentioned in another post and a quality hand axe makes for a tough combo to beat.:D:thumbup:

I would think that I'd keep my Becker Crewman. It happens to have a Victorinox Farmer in the sheath pocket, so I'd be in really good shape...

Fehrman, FirstStrike..Spec Ops sheath..of course the SAK Trekker and Firststrike are in the sheath..that counts right? Gene
