If you could only live with one knife brand...

I would probably pick Cold Steel, much as I hate to admit it.

I love my knives made of titanium, high-end steels, and carbon fiber, but that's because I'm a huge knife enthusiast. If I was only stuck to one brand my whole life, I'd probably be more of a "I buy this brand because they work, and I can abuse 'em and buy another." For me, that would be Cold Steel. Useful, but not as aesthetically pleasing as other knives in my collection. Well, I take that back, my Code 4 is an excellent, inexpensive knife.....

I'll tag onto this post because I too have become a believer in Cold Steel the last year or so and finally "came out" about it. Their switch to a premium steel seems to have been a home run for them. I was once a detractor of Cold Steel but, now owning a few, not anymore.

I like tough, well built, sturdy knives that feel solid in-hand and are comfortable for lengthy work (sometimes in gloves). Saving a half-inch of handle or a few ounces in weight is not a factor for me, nor am I picky about steel once it's above a certain level.

I don't seek uniformly sliced carrots. I want a sturdy, reinforced and ergonomic handle and I want a strong, sharp, easily maintainable and dependable blade of adequate thickness and length that will stand up to real work, with dependability being the ultimate requirement in the knife.

That said, I have a lot of folders I really like, but, as I own more Emersons than any brand, I'd have to declare them my favorite maker right now...with Cold Steel as honorable mention/newcomer of the year.

This is a hard one because i could definitely not go without my zt 0900, but overall my favorite most used brand is spyderco. So i Guess i would have to go with spyderco.

Probably a knife company that produced a large range of knives for different uses. Folders, Edc fixed, large fixed, choppers, fighting knives, neck knives, they've made a tomahawk and even a whale knife.

You know I'm talking Spyderco, seems popular.

Spyderco, besides that they are my favorite brand, they also cover edc, 'sd', kitchen, in both fixed and folder categorizes.

I'd go with Cold Steel, because if I'm only going to be able to buy from one manufacturer, their knives better be able to cut pigs in half with a single stroke![/QUOTE

GEC or ESEE. ESEE is a lot eisier to come by. My CS Recon and Voyager can't get as shard as my GEC72 or take a quarter what my ESEE 4 can

Victorinox

If I needed to do heavier cutting that required more robust blades (such as dressing animals, cutting wood, carpet, wires, or batoning through a brick) I would choose Spyderco.

I might just have the most unpopular and most disagreed with answer to this question. Schrade.

Before you ostracize me, my reasoning is sound. Now, I have many other brands of knives, most are used much more often than my Schrades. Looking at my utility use knives, my camping, fishing, hunting, carry, even those I just hold on to to display. When I look at what I have and what I use, only one brand appears in every use and that is Schrade.
These may not be the best knives I have or even the best I have at the tasks I have them for, and Schrade doesn't get a whole lot of respect on the forums. But if I eliminate every other brand I own but Schrades, I still have a knife for every task (with the exception of the kitchen).

Buck. Have everything from the kitchen to the battlefield with woods, survival, edc in between.

Spyderco as the variety in their product line is just so vast.

That being said my favorite knives are not spyderco. But you said choose only one "BRAND" aka company. And it would be spyderco.
