If you could only live with one knife brand...

Kai would be tempting due to shun, but I don't own any zt or kershaw knives. Have to go with spyderco. Covers so many styles and see typically my favorite knives.

I enjoy my ZT's but a Hinderer XM18 is a damn beast so I'll choose that.

Well I bounced between "at work" and "our kitchen" and came down on "at work".
As much as I would like to drop a fancy Japanese knife makers name (really do love those kind of knives) I have to be real about which knives are theeeee most used and useful to me and so . . .
I have to say SAK. They sure geeeterdone for me. I rotate some of them and there is a Wenger in there but you get what I mean.

Here are some photos I already had of "The Team" :

I would have to go with Cold Steel. Have you ever held a large AK-47 Cold Steel in your hand? I am telling you it is ergonomically awesome! And not the snotty high price

My EDC knives are Spyderco, Benchmade and ZT, with the majority of them being Spyderco. I have some Spyderco and Bark River fixed blades. If I had to pick only one brand it would be Spyderco.

One brand for all cutlery needs for life?

Any brand I chose would have to make a few kitchen knives, a few pocket knives, and a few sized fixed blades.

Kabar, Kai, svörd, Opinel, victorinox.

Kabar, Kai, and svörd make them all, but all are not exactly what I'd want in at least one area (kabars kitchen stuff isn't like a shun, kais outdoor knives aren't like Beckers, and svörds folders aren't like either. Opinel and victorinox don't really make outdoor fixed blades. Opinel makes a few kitchen knives that might be able to do the job though. I guess Ontario could work too, but their kitchen lineup isn't the greatest.

I'd go with Cold Steel, because if I'm only going to be able to buy from one manufacturer, their knives better be able to cut pigs in half with a single stroke!

I'd pick Cold Steel as well.

Variety being the main reason. Could cover all my needs (work, fire making and survival, buschraft, fun and hobbies, eating, self preservation...) with their products.

They sell knives for my kitchen, folders for EDCing and going around town, neck knives and small folders for utility, scary and ultra large folders as well as sprays and kubatons for concealed SD weapons and protection against animals and people, swords and spears for hunting and recreational/backyard fun, folders and fixed blades for camping/backpacking/fire making/buschraft, axes and hatchets and tomahawks for wood working (among other fixed blades), machetes for garden and yard work, etc.

The list is virtually infinite, quite sincerely.

The only aspect they do not cover is the Multi Tool/SAK aspect.

As for me.. I would say my top favorite companies are CRK, BM, Spyderco & ZT.. With that being said all companies have a huge variety of knives to offer. One thing that would narrow it down for me is blade steel. CRK gets the boot because of S35VN. While it is actually one of my favorite steels the other three companies also offer it and then some.

Down to ZT, Spyderco and BM. I like the utility use of ZT and BM over Spyderco. Spyderco gets the boot with that. Next, all ZT's have that weight that can be a factor plus I'm not too familiar with any of their fixed blades.

That basically narrows down my choice to Benchmade.. (that is if they're QC doesn't disappoint).

But am I sure I made the right choice? I would honestly be happy with any of the mentioned.

Spyderco, they make both folders and fixed blades of high quality.

Only fixed blade - Koster or Enzo

Only folders - Benchmade

I'd go with Cold Steel,

My Recon alone i trust more than all the other brands i owned. It's a sturdy, practical, no nonsense made work design.
That said….. Cold steel excels on both sides of the spectrum, no nonsense and absolute nonsense. They're nicely black and white, no grey. i like that.
