I'd keep a 4" to 5" fixed blade with a drop point or spear point blade; a good, lightweight folder with a blade around 3,5" to 4" and a decent multitool or SAK.

These three are just an example.

Well, here it is; Lon Humphrey Brut de Forge - Big and tough, nothing it can't handle - A brute. Bark River Fox River - great design, without peer for field dressing deer. Jeff White Bush One - without peer for skinning deer....They all do what they were made to do and do it par excellence and proven by me....lol

That would be a really, really tough call....

They'd have to be users and not collectable. They'd have to be the things I use most often.

Assuming I could keep kitchen utensils...

I'd say....

my Victorinox Alox Pioneer - handy, slim, light, a borderline multi-tool of the things you might need in a week and nothing you don't. No one gets offended when you use one to open a package.

My Pro-tech tr-3 x-1. My everyday carry and user. Reliable and sharp, great steel and heat treat that seems to require very little sharpening. I like having an auto for the theory of cutting a seat belt one handed in a car accident or similar. Its my most used knife so long as I'm not worried about people seeing it and freaking out.

My cold steel SRK. It won't impress anyone, but its tough, easy to sharpen, and can do a passable job at anything you would ask a knife to do in the woods, camp or home - extremely versatile. If you destroy it you can get a new one for $50. Frankly, its the fixed blade I always reach for. I feel weird rough housing a Randall or similar high dollar knife.... but the srk takes it all in stride. It's just tough to beat.

If I had to choose 3 that I currently own they would be 3 of my folders. I don't carry a fixed blade often.
Vic Ranger SAK. Best SAK for my needs and most often all I use. Bugout. Hands down best EDC for my needs. And then either my 0562 or Emerson CQC 7B for larger heavier folder.

Victorinox shows one “Ranger” and several other models each of whose name includes “Ranger”. Could you please tell us which you would choose?
