The question on the floor is "If you could only own three knives for the rest of your life".I have not read all 13 pages (so far) of this thread, so I may be way off base here. So I would ask those of you who have, to name makers or knives that you think are missing . . .Makers such as Buck and Randall seem to be missing by my sparse reading . . .are there others?
Good points. The question on the floor is "If you could only own three knives for the rest of your life".
You can either read the replies to get an idea of the opinions of other members or not...but the point isn't to simply compile a list of makers.
If Randall and Buck are on "your" list, fine. If they (or others) are missing, then they haven't been selected by the respondents.
Simply put because they were not selected as the (only 3 for the rest of your life) by most participants.Good points.
I was looking at the responses (I have read many, but not all) as a sort of aficionado poll. Randall and Buck are both quality makers with large and loyal followings. It struck me that they were, along with others, not among the chosen even though this is a multi-page thread with several hundred responses. My post on this is intended to be just an observation or a statement of my perhaps flawed perception.
Photos.Does this include kitchen knives?
1. 8" chef knife. Artisan 210mm gyutp with SRS-15 core
2. LG Sebenza snakewood inlay
3. 4.5" blade fixed hunting knife.
I can do the small kitchen tasks with the Sebenza and I can do enough with the hunting fixed to get by without other meat processing knives. I'll make the blade a little bigger to help with deboning and other stuff.
Skipping the kitchen knife and looking at what I own today.
1. Sebenza
2. Hunting fixed
3. GEC 44 gunstock in cocobolo
Adding a slip joint as a food knife but a second locking folder is probably a better choice. I just need one in the lineup to represent the slip joints.
I'll get some photos later on.
