If you were to have to go into war what 3 folders would you take.

As a Field Linesman-MOS 36K20- I carried a Buck 110 from the PX and my issue TL-29 from 72 to 76. Did just fine!--KV

Playing along with OPs criteria:
Benchmade contego, ZT 560 and spyderco native

3 I would really want to carry:
Hinderer XM-24 spanto, Victorinox tinker, and a multitool and a fixed blade depending on my job...but if I was going to carry one it would be my busse TGLB

Victorinox Farmer for camp tasks
Hinderer XM-18 hard use folder
ZT/ Emerson 0620 for a combat blade.

Responding to somebody's question from a few posts back, regarding why folders are preferred to fixed blades.

Again, from what I read (not personal experience), a solider is not only carrying a lot of weight, he is carrying a lot of bulk. Infantry in particular have a chest rig with all sorts of packs and pouches on it, to go with the backpack, and not a few things in belt pouches.

With all of this, space is at a premium, and many find that the extra strength of a fixed blade is simply not worth the hassle of having to find a place to sling it.

I'd take my ESEE 4 for a fixed blade, but since your asking about folders......

1. Benchmade Contego

2. fox 599 waved kerambit

3. Small seb 21

An then probably my leatherman C2 juice for a multitool

No folders, why would that even matter or be an only option? 1 fixed blade, and my own handcrafted 52100 tank.

Well I would not bring a knife to a gun fight but with the realm in which you might use a knife in a war I would probably bring a CS or a ZT. I have not used or handled the Adamas but it looks like it is built to withstand some abuse. Some of the answers here are pretty interesting.

Since you opened it up to all brands, I'd have to take my Buck 110 from the Custom Shop with an S30V blade and micarta scales, my SOG Tomcat with textured G10 scales and my Victorinox Swiss Champ.

Ok, since we're talking about all brands, ZT 0550, Emerson CQC-8 (or any of my other Emersons for that matter), and my Umnumzaan.

Most of the knives I carried in uniform were from CRKT and they served me well. I had never heard of Benchmade or Spyderco and ZT was not around yet.

Well here are my choices:

Benchmade Griptillian

Spyderco Manix or PM2

ZT 0350

If I am allowed another choice, I would add a Victorinox/Wenger Soldier or a Buck/TOP CSAR-T

I have the Leatherman charge titanium which is my multi tool of choise. It has pretty much everything I need. And someone said they have never handled the Benchmade Adamas. Man I have to tell you I have never held a folder for the exception of a few Medfords that have the feel of a tank. I would probably feel just as comfortable with the Adamas 275 as I would with a solid fixed blade. Also, a few posts ago I asked if anyone has seen/handled the Surefire Delta EW-06. I would like to get some expert feedback on it if possible. Thanks to all and especially those whom have served in our armed forces. God Bless!!!!!

As stated, war-zone necessitates fixed blade(s). The only "folder" I'd consider would be a SAK or MT.

Maybe these

These, maybe

?

In reality

More than likely

Still one knife too many.

Until one of them went missing. Then, Id be eyeballin' everyone in the squad. In my head: [Fuckin', Johnson... Didnt trust that guy since day one.] Then, poor old clumsy Johnson would have an "accident". I would find the knife the next day, in the bottom of my pack.

I guess for hand to hand combat, I'd go with these:
Right hand: Benchmade 7505-132 for AUTO opening
Left hand: Spyderco Military in left hand carry
Back right pocket: ZT0560 as backup blade
