I'm the smartest one in the room - the non-shop, non-business sub forum chat thread

Boattale Boattale yes that sounds hard. I have nothing but admiration for people who face such challenges and fight through them. I had only a small glimpse of it last fall when I pulled my back, and was all but laid up for a few days. It was not pleasant, but someone always has it worse, and faces it with stronger character...

Hey jbmonkey jbmonkey I see you sneaked an edit in there. Yes, those kettlebells are calling to you. I definitely think it's a good idea to grab one, a small one to start. I'd help you as much as I can with advice. If you start small, you'd be amazed at what can be achieved at any age.
yep. wrong picture posted.

yeah I think starting with monkeys is better for me than apes.......

Meh, arbitrary man made distinctions for critters made by Someone else. ;)

My best friend Butch - who faced Hep C and the liver cancer that finally got him with aplomb if that's possible - frequently said: "Might as well smile while you're doing it". Good advice it was.

Amen to that. Be an example for others. The inspiration we give them might be what helps them to overcome what we did not. THAT is a legacy.

Movement is medicine. I move every day with a goal of moving a little more fluidly each day. Especially after I pulled my back last year.
Come push carts with me... I did 17 miles yesterday, and another 13 today.

Agreed. My grandad a while back, and struggling with health issues that would probably have had me writhing on the floor in agony, sat at the table petting Cooper (I think there was a kindred spirit thing with a couple of old timers) said: "Every morning I wake up, I thank the Lord for giving me another day, and go about my business".

Minutes before he passed, he had my mom and aunt take Grandma down to the cafeteria (dad my brother and I were on the way, we'd just received news he wasn't going to make it) to get lunch so she could take her pills.

If I can handle my final days with even an iota of the dignity and class that that man showed I'll count myself lucky.

Speaking of aging…
I Emailed a Navy bud and he responded with a phone call.
I didn’t hear it, as I was watching a movie with my Bluetooth hearing aids.
When I did call him back, he had to call me back, because his hearing aids were reverberating on their land line.
We had a good laugh at the irony.

Mosquitoes have kicked it up a notch tonight. Along with my murderous intent. They come for a snack but all they get is a smack. One after another. Their powers of observation and judgment are … unenviable.

which reminds me I need to build and hang some bat houses up......

Yeah we need to do that here too.

I don't like Discord servers where admin is crooked.

I prefer servers where administrate.

And yes, sorry, I'm here all week.
