Impulse buys? Who's guilty?

I bought myself a Cold Steel Warcraft Tanto for Christmas. I love it, however the sheath sucks. I ended up having one made that I really like. I hope you have better luck than I did. The sheath it came with was too tight and the blade slid against it in an aggressive manner. Again, Cold Steel has excellent products. Keep us posted on how you like the Warcraft. It is a bad ass blade for sure.

No idea what you're talking about. Still, I'm usually pretty happy with what I get

Absolutely. Especially doubles. Now I think back and wonder why I bought both versions of the 0357, a 20cv barenuckle and an M4 Blur instead of saving up for a month or so and ending up with a Hinderer Bowie...🙄

I don't know if I really impulse buy knives since I spend so much time looking and thinking about them and telling myself "no you don't need another knife" to try and tamp down the urge lol. And now I have 2 new Microtechs and have just spent more money on two knives than I ever had before.

I did impulse buy an electric scooter this weekend. I took in a tire off my stepson's scooter to the local e-bike shop for repair and I saw this thing. It spoke to me saying "you need me in your life." A soft glow a heavenly chorus the whole bit. Before that wanting an electric scooter had never crossed my mind. Now I am an e-scooter guy as well as a knife guy.

You might want to impulse buy yourself some adult footwear

I'm quite curious what you regretted about the M5? I have an M7 that I am quite pleased with.

There's nothing wrong with the knife. My regret is based on the fact that I paid $150 for a knife that I have absolutely no need for. I've had it for around 6 years and it's never cut a thing. It just sits in a box, a lesson learned, and a reminder not to give into my compulsion to buy knives.

I'm not an "accumulator" of knives. So just owning the knife isn't enough for me. There are knives (folding stilettos) that I take pleasure in merely owning, but that's because of a childhood connection to such knives. I have no such feelings for fixed-blades, so to me, spending $150 on a fixed-blade that I will never have a use for is a complete waste of money.

The M5 stands out because of the fact that I've never once used it, and that I gave into buying it when a part of me said not to. I own several other knives, folders and fixed that I regret purchasing, but at least some were used and carried a little before going into "the box".

Guilty on seeing and buying.
Guilty on doubles (and triples) of knives I like ... just in case they are discontinued or ...
Guilty on buying knives that I haven't used and likely won't any time soon.
Guilty hoarding but calling it collecting.

Now that I've come clean I should also mention that I am in a support group (read: enabling group) called BLADE FORUMS!

An impulse purchase of a clue would likely do you well.
I'm just worried about your bare toes on that whizzmobile. Not to mention the risk that dropping an impulsively purchased and hastily handled knife might pose. I mean I know your avatar is the symbol of chaos but you should still be careful. :P

Regarding the topic, I grew up with financial instability, occasional food insecurity, no public assistance and very limited extended family support. Being able to buy something just because I want to at this point in my life, especially something that is not alcohol (11 years sober) is a great feeling. It can be a slippery slope, but I know that there are many worse things than impulse buying, especially when the purchase is something that will outlive the buyer.

I've had a lot of fun finding decent budget gear. I have nicer knives but most of the time, I end up using and carrying my "budget gems" from Kizer, Civivi, etc. Steels like 14C28N, N690, and well-treated 9Cr18Mov meet my needs fairly well. All this time though, my poor cutting board has been suffering under a Walmart special in mystery steel.

So when I saw an auction ending low on a TwoSun Chef's knife in 14C28N, I took a shot. I won! Now I just have to wait for the shipping...

I’m more guilty of doubles than impulse, but sometimes I’ll impulsively buy a double, so that’s probably even worse, idk.

That scooter goes up to 53 miles an hour, no way am I riding it without decent shoes on. I wear boots all day at work, and it was 105° out so, yeah.

I told myself I’m only buying one per month this year (surprisingly have stuck to it)
That’s turned out to be a good way to keep from impulse buys. There’s a lot out there I’d like to try out, and it gives me time to decide what’s next.

I pulled the trigger on yet another CRKs large Inkosi, this one has the black Micarta inlays and drop point blade, found used but in excellent shape, at this rate ill never save any money! but figured I just had to own it☺️ yep I got the CRK bug.....
