In defense of a friend

...sure is. Both of these guys, narruc1, and Senator, are well known around here, and have a pretty good reputation. I believe their good guys, and that this is all a misunderstanding. Even I've went around with them a time or two, especially Senator, but that's in the past, and reguardless of their opinions, I feel that they are still good guys. Wouldn't the two of you have a much better time drinking beer together and talking knives? I know I would, and would do so anytime.

That being said, I'd like to add that I have never had a deal with Bob, and don't know him personally. I may have responed to a thread about him at one time or another, but I doubt it, and I don't recall doing so. However, Bob sent me an email last week, stating that I was one of the "good guys", and that I should feel free to go to him for my next purchase. He also included his web address. I took this as an advertisment more than anything, especially since I don't recall sticking up for him, so I deleted it, and ignored the fact taht he probably lifted my email address from BFC. This doesn't bother me too much, and I still don't know enough about Bob to make a judgment. I'm sure he's a good guy, but it seems like he's going about his business the wrong way, and getting caught in a lie is never a good thing. Seems to me that he's just using his "status" to get custom knives at a discount, then selling what he doesn't want anymore at a profit.

Ok. I have been sitting on the sidelines and reading all this. I have to say,

for the people that I have had misunderstandings with (and that's all, just misunderstandings), Spark said it like it is, give me the opportunity, and I will do what is possible to make things right (in your eyes). That is all I can do, is ask for an opportunity. I no longer have a beef with Senator or Bo. That is history and I will not go on being angry at anyone. It isn't healthy.

Jackyl, I am thanking you, because you have me on your list of good guys. And I am a little disappointed that you don't remember. And yes we have done business before. And it was a positive encounter or I wouldn't be there (on your list, would I?).

I thank my good friends Lanny, Bob, Russ and all the other forumites that I do business with for a great friendship and trade experiences. I value your friendship more then you know.

Gentlemen and Forumites, I am going to anounce this one more time for Jackyl's sake and anyone else that isn't aware, I have started a knife dealership (invested money, filing tax papers, name registration, etc.) which according to the law of Colorado defines starting a business. I am currently dealing with all the makers as a dealer that reside on the custom index page on my website with the exception of Allen Elishewitz (I spoke with his office, and do not want to wait 3 months and I can purchase his knives through my distributor).

Those of you that trust me, I appreciate your trust and will never betray it. Those of you that believe I was hidding my dealership status and posting on the individual forum, I have already addressed that. I am not going to do it again no matter what is said in this thread. We will just have to agree to disagree.

Can we just dispense with all the debate and enjoy the hobby. And by all means, if you have a beef, let me know. You can email me and you will have an audience. I'll do everything I can reasonably do to address it.

Thank You...

Bob, I don't mean to come off as being against you, I just wanted to state my feelings on it. I'm not trying to kick you, while your down either. That being said, I don't remember doing business with you. Did you change your screen name, because your current name isn't on my list. It is on the other's list, but not mine, and if I've done business with someone...their on my list. If we have done business, I'm sure it was a positive experience, and I apoligize for questioning your email.

-AR

Nope didn't change my name. My screen name is my real name. No offense taken. I am sure we had a trade or something a while back, but I can't remember what it was. Maybe a Spyie of some sort. I was into them heavy at one time living near Denver and all.

Hey, well, we probably will have another one I hope, and I am confident that it will work out well.

Thanks.

This has gotten a little out of hand and I think we need to give eachother a break.

Bob is working with some guys I know and respect and I would have to draw the conclusion that he is a good guy. It is easy to understand the enthusiasm he has displayed in trying to get a business up and running and I look forward to meeting him and doing business with him in the future.

Seems like some minor mistakes were made on both sides of this issue and that they can be put behind us and that it will not be to hard to enjoy eachothers company in our small world of knives.

I agree with Steve B. Was that a veiled threat about the state fair???Sure can be taken that way.
I think at this point all anyone needs to do is read through all the old posts and make their own decisions about who they want to order from.
And N1, you're welcome for the 2 emails letting you know that guy was trying to reach you.

I kind of like the way Bob puts it,
"Can we just dispense with all the debate and enjoy the hobby."

Mr Curran,
Did you call Senator out or not for the Raleigh show? Seeing as this is between two people I call friends, I want to know what the meaning between the lines really was.

David - I'm sure Bob just wanted to buy me lunch while we played with guns and knives. After all, he'd better be the one buying if I drive four hours from home just to see him.

I guess I could have made my reply sound a little better than it did. As I went back and read it again, it did seem a little threatening, but I never meant it to be that way. I guess I should have put a

there, and made it a little more friendlier. I'm the kind of guy that will not beet around the bush... If I make a threat, I will not mix words, and you will know if it is one.

So let me apologize for causing that misinterpretation!

I would like to meet the person that I disagree with a lot on the forums, and I will buy the brewski.

Four hours is not that long for a good show! I'm easy to find... Just look for a four wheeler!

Unless you had dealings with Bob, or have been personally affected by a deal / almost deal with him, it's my personal opinion that you shouldn't be spouting off negatively about him.

Don't through your "suppossed" weight around or jump on the bandwagon when you don't have all of the facts, this isn't a place for snap decisions. Feel free to ask questions, but let's let everyone else make up their own minds.

Self appointed judges, juries, & executioners are neither needed or wanted here. Any major decisions can and will be made by the moderaters, Mike, or myself.

Other than that, let's stick to the facts - a peanut gallery is not helpful or neccessary.

Spark,
Sticking to the facts is a lot easier when one knows what they are. The invitation to the Raleigh show could have been taken a couple of different ways, the way it was worded. I have had very positive dealings with parties involved and am trying to clarify the meaning. If this puts me in the "peanut gallery", so be it. I was operating under the assumption that if threads were open in the forum, they were for the participation of everyone interested.
I do not desire to get into a pi$$ing contest with you or anyone else. I can't win and will most likely come out the wettest

Nah, according to my girlfriend my aim is the worst so most likely all we'll end up with is a nasty, slippery floor.

Asking for clarification is not a problem - rendering judgement and lambasting others without a clear picture of *exactly* what happened is.

lol... This is funny! Dave, I think Spark is referring to Bob Glassman when he used the name Bob; And Spark, Dave was referring to me when he used the name Bob. I think that is whats happening here.

In any case let me clarify... In no way was it a threat to senator when I invited him down to the knife show. I hold no malice towards him! We just disagree on a few things, and that is all. In fact we have one thing very much in common... We both have great taste in knives!
biggrin.gif

My taste is a little better though! lol

Yeah, but was your knife pictured in Blade Magazine (page 81 of the Sept. 2000 issue) and the Knives 2001 annual (page 113) like mine was?
