Incompetency and the RAT Pack Knife

...or be involved in a retail business.

This was a custom order, done as a favor, at a very discounted rate, with a huge amount of work involved. No one is upset about the valid issues that have been dealt with. But when people are flooding emails about thigs that have alredy been posted, what reaction do you expect?

RAT has shown some awesome customer service in this order, and in many other cases. If you've been dissatisfied, well, I'd hate to be a waiter for you.

Sorry to hear that the project ended up being such a hassle.

But dealing directly with retail customers can be very trying indeed.

Retail takes a lot of hand-holding and assuaging peoples' feelings.

"Making the customer feel special." and all that.

It can be very, very financially rewarding as Sam Walton and other great retailers discovered over the years.

But it does take a certain type of person to excel at retail.

Seems that you're much better off being manufacturers/designers rather than as retailers. ;)

The issue is this ISNT RETAIL! This is a custom limited edition, for RatPack only, serialized knife. We are getting a great discount (cheaper than retail!) on a knife that by all rights should be WELL ABOVE retail. There were a number of threads discussing the knife but when it came time to order and pay it was pretty simple.

1 Order in this thread (required one post that said "I want 1" or "I want 2" with your RP #)

2 Pay thread (this had a link and required NO POSTS)
The link laid out the rules perfectly clear even including International shipments. (because RAT knows they have guys in service overseas and RP members in other countries that love their product and he didnt leave anyone out)

3 Confirm thread (yes you had to read it Bold or not, no post required here either)

The only other thing to do was wait patiently.

Some folks on this thread have already made it clear why this won't be happening again. :(

As you remind me:

I can't thank Jeff enough for caring for us overseas RatPackers as RAT Cutlery doesn't usually ship to overseas customers.

 Thanks again

If you look at the RAT Cutlery website, you see they pretty much do everything they can to get you to buy from one of their dealers rather than sell directly. In fact, I don't think they even have the option of buying a knife directly from them anymore.

Jeff has said more than once, that he runs a training operation, not a knife store.

Perhaps we should stop pointing fingers, grow up and take responsibility for ourselves. If you screwed up look at what you've done and learn from it. If you followed the rules be proud of yourself for not screwing up and move on.

There's a lot of tension around lately. I think we should get back to the way it was. Relax and have fun people.

...maybe my Wife was right when she said that sometimes it takes a good Woman to cut through all the crap/egos...
