Ok guys so from all my research the temperatures for that weekend in April should be between 66 and 75 for the highs and 38 to 48 for the lows.
I'm thinking that is a decent approximation....
if someone one was driving past NYC I would certainly throw in for gas??
NYC is way out of my way unfortunately, but perhaps we can entice somebody from up north to attend and pick you up along the way.
If I am not rafting that weekend, I will be there. Maybe we can start a group chat about what knives people are bringing or would like to see? Not trying to start a shopping list for lazy thief, but I know when I started I would have loved to have gotten my hands on some models (I just bought them on exchange instead $$$). And weather in late April should be very nice
It was said in jest, but plenty of old mine shafts in WV for any transgressors to disappear.
I have a recon scout that has more camping trips, and wood piles than all my bussekin put together, so let's not get to snobby.
I only have one Busse. I don't feel worthy enough to even join this gathering?
I wish something like this could go down in Minnesota.
I wish something like this could go down in Minnesota.
Do it!
Bunch of great knives already. I have not used a MOAB and would love the chance, interested to see if I like using the ashbm any better than the original. Seems a major deficiency in ResC in the group. I have B11, B8, B9, 911, 711 and maybe few more.
Driving through the people's republic of omalleys maryland so doubt I bring many firearms other than my carry.
Man, I can't decide what to bring... Not sure I'll bring many guns other than the standard ones I'd take on a woods trip. I know I'll bring a NMFBM, NMFSH, FFBM, MOABM, MOAB, CGFBM, SHBM, ASHBM, SHII, Fat ASH, ZTBM, BWM... Heck, I might even bring my Fletcher 24" O1 bladed Bunker Buster!
You got me breavis. I'll be there. My TG will too.
Breavis is right, the trip is about having fun as a group of like minded knife enthusiasts. Bring your good spirits (alcohol and cheer) indeed! I do expect that people will be respectful of my property, but we are there to have a good time and chop up a lot of stuff. I have a LOT of trees that have fallen or are standing dead, all of them are fair game. I will mostly be bringing Busse knives, but I'll probably bring some stuff from Nathan Carothers (Nathan the Machinest) and a Wenger hawk too. I'm happy to let people use my knives to see how they like them (not to try to chop rocks, but wood is fine). People are welcome to bring whatever they want for knives. Guns are welcome, but they MUST be treated with the utmost of respect and care. I will not tolerate people waving guns around and pointing them at people, even if they are unloaded. We can certainly do some target practice if people would like, but handling and shooting guns is NOT a drinking sport, at least on my property; I just want to make that clear now so that there is no question about it on the trip. I hope I don't sound like a lawyer.
In regards to old mine shafts in WV, while I'm sure that there are a lot of them, I have not found any on my property. My land is in a gated community of 363 lots ranging from 20 - 215 acres each, which in total is over 10,000 acres. The community does abut the Nathaniel Mountain Wildlife Management area which is about 11,000 acres or public hunting land; however, public access to that land is on the other side of a mountain. There is no public road near my property, so there is minimal chance of coming across any of the "thieving type". Here is a link to the website of one of the real estate agents that sells property in Ashton Woods where my land is, and it the website provides some more info about the area. http://ashtonwoodswv.com/
In regards to knives, I'll be bringing the below Busse's, and probably some others as well.
