INFI??? Second thoughts.

I've noticed that Busse doubters turn into Busse Believers and then go Busse nutty... in a go way though. :):D

I got a really good deal on a NMSFNO on the Busse exchange. Seems like their kind of hard to find in that model too. The guy I got mine from also offered me several other Busse's at the cost he payed for them several years ago. Which I kindly jumped on. :D The guys over there are very helpful and knowledgeable about Jerry's knives. And they'll go out of there way to help you out. So check it out and enjoy. ;)

Before you commit to any of those offers you must have gotten, Jerry posted a sneak peak of Gemini 7 which is said to come out in two weeks. I'm waiting on it, might have to sell my ASH to get it, but I'll definably buy it.

Also Jerry mentioned he will have small, medium and large blades avaliable through the store all the time soon.

I saw that, thanks. Its an ugly knife with every feature I like. we'll see what the pricing is then move forward.

Once they get their 1st one they are hooked. :D

Doesn't mean the price is right and everything is kosher, it just means that's a helluva knife and you put up with the BS for its sake, kind of like having an off child, you can't love them less but bail gets pricey. ;)

The price is right for what they are and can do, one would be hard pressed to find a knife at any price that will perform like a Busse or even come close.

You get to pick the options you want at the time of order customising the knife to you.

They are all limited production knives remember, a run usually lasts for a few months.

They could make a few knives (Like rat cutlery) and always have them up, or they could release somewhat limited runs and continue to make new designs. I prefer the latter. There's only so many of one model i'd be willing to buy.

Beanie Babies were a profitable marketing strategy as well. Busse has taken the path of selling a lot of knives to the same people rather than selling the same knife to a lot of people. As long as ownership is perceived as a privilege (you never "buy" one, you "score" it) there will be just enough demand from outside the core market to keep the prices up. It doesn't even matter if the steel is much above average if someone's going to congratulate you for buying it. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I'm not attracted to it either. I'd rather buy the knife I want and know that if I want another one in a few years I can get it.

I am one of the Busse "kool-aid" drinkers. Yeah, they are great knives. However, just as big a draw for me is the great people. Some abbreviated examples:

My 21 year old daughter was lying in a vegetative state after a hit and run. I received one of the first Busse Custom Shop AD's I had bought, took it to the nursing home, held it in front of her face and promised to put it away for her until she could carry it hunting with me. Told the story on the Busse forum. A week later another Custom Shop AD arrived with a note from Jerry and Jennifer Busse saying that they wanted to replace the one I had given to Kim. (The first hunt, by the way, happened last year.)

At Kim's first Blade show after the hit and run, they made a bg deal over her, inducted her as a "Hoggette", gave her a specially embossed Steel Heart E commerating the occasion.

That knife is now on display, along with a Busse three-finger that showed up from an anonymous Hog, and a sheath sent to her by Okoden.

Her Semper Fi hat given by a Hog in honor of her toughness.

For several years I was house-bound, taking care of Kim. The Busse forum, the knives, and the people helped keep me sane through it.

In one of his Ganzaa's, Busse offered a $300 "grab bag". I and a few other people bought in, not knowing what we were going to get, but as I told my wife, I will bet on Jerry Busse anytime. I now have an original one of three hundred pattern straight-handled Battle Mistress with desert tan coating, extremely rare. It was at least a $700 knife the day I received it, and worth more now.

With a certain exception (I want a Dozier Master Skinner) if I ever buy another fixed blade knife (and I will) it will be a Busse, period.

I'm not a "kool-aid" drinker but I will also attest to the strength and toughness of Busse knives. They are the toughest knives I've ever come across and I regularly kick myself for not keeping more than one.

I consider the SFNO I kept to be a great deal at the price I paid and for awhile there I was getting offers- this is for a knife that had been used hard- of more than double what I paid for it new and I wouldn't sell it. That ought to tell any doubters something. :)

I haven't been around here long enough to have seen this happen. This makes me proud to be a Busse customer.

Even if it doesn't surprise me any longer, it makes me proud too. The steel is as good as the people. And that is saying something.

thats good stuff . no mistaking good poeple,or good equipment, and i love the look on someones face when they ask about my knife and I pull that CGASH1 out and put it in their hand .................priceless

You're being smart, and good for you.
Infi and Busse sound like hype, especially with all the devotees and fanatics.
I'd be suspicious too.

No, Infi probably isn't the best steel in the universe and no Busse knives aren't the finest knives on the planet.
But they are superb for what they are designed for.

My first Busses (an old straight handled Mistress and a SH II ) were bought because my Trailmaster Carbon V ( also a great knife) gave me some problems on a trip up north. There was some hype back then too, but I took it with a grain of salt. OK, a truckload of salt. But, boy, they did (and still do) live up to Jerry's promises ( except delivery times) and most of the hype. They are now my primary hard use knives ( although IMHO my best knives are still customs and my best hard user is a Wally Hayes 52100 monster )

These are really fabulous hard use knives. They're not the fastest fighters or the most versatile for sometimes kitchen use etc., but for chores and chopping and being reliable in the field, and for having good people behind them and behind you, they're great and worth the money.

Someone said it perfectly on the last page. Think very hard about whether you actually buy one. You'll buy more, or at least you'll want to.

 Yep marketing genius, I agree. Oprah gives away cars and has ardent followers too...if you like her great, if you like Busse great, rich people should give back to the poor that support them, the bottom line is that those knives are pricey, the sales is spotty (get a new HellRazor model right now from the manufacturer, oh wait you can't) and the forced rarity it supplies is an awesome gimmick.

It's true the knives rock, the service is amazing and he's a great salesman but caveat emptor is that you pay an extra 200 bucks for every time the tag LE is attached to something that gets a special color g10 or a thicker blade. See what I am saying? pricey, not all of us are hardened hogs of the round trough of oinkiness, willing to sacrifice quality of life to say they have a NO-E BM magical +2 sword of swine.

 Indeed.

Don't buy 'em. Problem solved. Nothing is to be gained by your ridiculous envy.

Might I suggest looking here for all of your cutlery needs. Seems to be directly up your alley.

I only have 3 Busses, a GW, a Hellrazor and an ASH-1, so I'm no expert. I'd like to point out to the detractors that Busse' are like any other product. Their price is driven by the market. What makes that market? Quality.

Right on Brother!

They are good quality as are many other brands. Anyone who thinks they are getting their monies worth should be happy, no matter the brand or even product.
