No that is a non ground blank so the sheath maker can produce a template

Awesome. AWESOME!!!! Can't wait for this one. This is one you might see me join the ranks of the whiners if it takes too long. Just warning everyone...

I can't help but see my 5.1 and think, nah 6. Then I see the 7/7 and I think, nah 6.

What am I missing here? Or is the 6 going to be one of the top designs in the mid length GSOs?

Forward choil, nah 6. 😅

Yes, as does the 10 & 12. I get a choil in a long knife. I don't mind them there.

6 is the biggest without one.

Perhaps someone with more real use experience can chime in. Is having a blade size between the 7/7 and 10 useful? Or is the 8 a red headed step child?

The 10 is Guy's own design for a "Only one tool" knife. I think the choil is proper here considering.

The 8 was designed based on requests by forum members here, so someone wants it!

The 7/7 was a commemorative design based on a friend of Guy's that passed away. It might have some particular design considerations none of us will ever be aware of.

The 6 I think was just designed to be one of the best knives ever.

*No bias intended*

Nope, not biased at all :D

Actual facts elude me at the moment, but I think the 7/7 is more of the "USMC Kabar" of the GSO line. The original never really appealed to me, but the new version is so sexy with that new handle and blade profile! Because the blade is so narrow (edge to spine) I don't think it would be nearly as hefty for chopping like the bigger models.

I think Revolverrodger petitioned for the 8 to be a shorter version of the 10, but I think the 8 also ended up being a taller (edge to spine) and heavier 7/7 making it a better chopper and woods knife.

I'm really anxious for the 10, but I know not everyone wants a 10 inch blade thumping on their belt or all those ounces in a pack. The 8 was designed as a large knife that won't get left at home.

Based on the specs, I'd say there is definitely space for the 8. Slightly thicker than the 7/7 (albeit barely, at only 0.01"), a quarter-inch wider, and 3/4" longer. I would say it will definitely chop better than the 7/7, if that's your thing. I've come to realize I'm not much of a chopper on trees with a knife. Not much of a chopper with knives period. And for anything from briar-sized vines up to about a 3" diameter tree-branch (or tree), I'll put my $12 Corona machete up against any knife as far as getting through it quickly. It just is a bear to carry, as it doesn't have a sheath. I could fix that, but I don't typically take it with me backpacking or camping. For the typical chores I do camping, I'd rather have something in the 6"-8" range. I have the 5.1; I have the 4.1, 4.7, 6, and 7/7 on order. I honestly expect the size of the 7/7 to be in a sweet spot for me, and I have a couple other blades of varying thicknesses in the 9"-10" range already. That I'll likely never carry

Hmmmm... I think I've almost talked myself into a GSO 8.... How'd that happen??

It's not hard at all to talk your self into any of the models in my opinion.

I just wish I had the option for a false grind. I'd get one of each, cause man that's some sexy lines.
