I think if you choose "Ugly Betty" you will undermine your products. Factory Second will be a more prudent way to go!

Under the flag though? A simple mark like the one used under the handle but in a visible location would sure do the job as well without drawing so much attention.

If I understand it right, it would be both... "Factory Second" for seconds and "Ugly Betty" for a second that's worse then a second... Am I reading it right ??

I see now! Thank you for highlighting that as I had not read it properly and just skimmed through it! So Ugly Betties are like factory 3rds! ;)

Yep, "Factory 3rds" doesn't have the same ring to it. I wanted to call them "S!crap" but Guy made a valid point about them getting confused with the actual scrap pile.

One of the issues with the existing mark is that it is done by hand so the divots aren't precise at all. Doing it with the engraver just makes it look cleaner and will be a bit faster. We didn't add it to the logo side because it is already pretty busy over there. We toyed around with the idea of removing the flag but that didn't seem right.

How about 3 hash marks under the pinky on the blade. Like a super light jimping. Or engravings if your machine can go that direction.

I can live with Ugly Betty (pun intended). I can turn a factory first into an Ugly Betty in no time (look at my wife, pun still intended). This really will help us out in the secondary market in the long run. We won't have to remove scales to ensure that the seller properly represented the knife. It is sad that there are those that have done this.

I support any direction the company wants to go in this. With that said I'm wondering if the indicators are too big and bold. Could a little 2 or II be put somewhere? It makes sense for the Ugly Betty to be big and bold.

If I may make a suggestion, What about engraving a "2" or "2nd" on the flat between the pommel and the lanyard hole? It would be prominent (not covered by the scales), fast (because it's engraved), and would not mess up the asthetics of the flag.

Alternately, You could ghost engrave the second mark under the flag and that would keep it cleaner than the one on Instagram.

Just a suggestion, feel free to do with your company and products as you wish.

I like these ideas a lot. Of course I'm one of the few that thinks the ghost engraving looks better than the dark logos. They just look more subtle and less Tops knives style.
Too much printing and they start to look like NASCAR themed knives.

Totally, fully, absolutely agree with this.

Whatever they choose to do, I like the idea of a more visible mark compared to the hidden dimple.

Also a knife with Ugly Betty printed on it is actually hilarious :D

I wonder how ugly they'd actually get?

I think its a great idea, especially the "Ugly Betty" - sort of, if you don't know, you have to ask. If you know, you don't have to ask.

I also think they should put "Best Knife on the Planet" on the Firsts, but that's just me...

I wish these Ugly Betty's were available during pre-order. I have a feeling that I'll have a hard time putting my factory 1sts to work because they'll be too pretty.
An UGGO 4.1 D3v will definitely be my next purchase once they're available.
