We considered the pommel area but determined it would be a bit tough to work with. For one thing, there is no exposed pommel on the Necker II and the one on the GSO-2.7 is thin enough that it would be difficult to put anything legible there. It would also be quite a bit more difficult to measure out an exact placement on an area that small.

The problem with the ghost engraving idea is that it would add a few steps to the process. As far as I understand things, we wouldn't be able to just do all of the engraving at once.

We are listening though and Guy may have an alternative idea. We will execute it on another Factory 2nd we come across and see what the consensus is.
 
I like it like it is. Obvious, no doubt about it, no way to cheat on the secondary market.
 
Just throwing this out there - this may make it easier now for sharks to pass off existing (not visibly marked) seconds as firsts in the future. No perfect solution, and I thing this is still a good idea.

I think I follow you... Meaning it would take some time for everyone "to get the memo" so to speak ??
 
Subtle is usually a better long term marketing decision. It can be tweaked and not derail the larger goal of consistency in promoting the brand.

Yes. In a couple years, no obvious Fac. 2nd or Ugly Betty under the flag must mean it's a first, right?

I don't think it's S!K's problem to protect everyone from every possible scenario. I like the additions to the seconds and thirds, and like that they don't take themselves too seriously, while trying to accommodate our requests.
 
My question is...
When will these Ugly Betty's be available?
I'm completely on board with this idea no matter how the logos look. I don't know why I'm so excited about this, but I am.

I'm way over thinking things, probably, and I imagine posts like mine make Ellie's eye roll back to the 6 o'clock position. As I said, I do not expect S!K to protect us from every imaginable scam out there, and this is a cool idea. Plus I'm with Standard78 - when can I get my hands on an Ugly Betty to really beat on. No way I'm doing it to my prized S!K knives now, so let's have a truck knife to thrash.

So they start marking the Firsts as Firsts, too? I think that covers your concern. :D
