Ink in the Meat- Tattoo Thread

Your welcome and congrats!!

I agree on the sheets!! I have pissed the wife off more than once with ink and a little blood on her sheets LMAO

And Sue it is very possible i have an allergy to A&D, my skin is sensitive to some stuff like fake jewelry, so maybe something in that also gives me bumps.

an odd sidenote to this: I used to dye my hair raven black, the last time I did that I ended up in the hospital looking like the elephant man. They told me I couldn't dye it again. Turns out some people have a severe reaction to the henna in the dye if they have a lot of ink in them! wow who knew? so now it's my natural fiery auburn with a few strands of silver LOL. I checked the dye box and sure enough it stated that some people with tattoos have severe allergic reactions. Wish I still had the pictures of my freakishly large head from that fiasco, it was a horror story.

just trying to help out, I have close to 30 tatts now and have learned a lot over the years. use the ointment til your stuff that you order comes, really, protection and moisturizing are KEY. Oh and put old sheets on the bed, ones you don't care about, when the ink bleeds out it is really a bear to get out of cloth.

You have close to 30 tattoos? Well then I would definitely listen to SueZQ when it comes to caring for your tat :D

Wow that must have been aweful! I would have never thought people could have a reaction from something after getting tattoos. I learned something new today. I have some tattoo ideas in mind but I also love to color my hair.. choices, choices.

Lol tattoos > hair coloring.

Interesting commentary on the affects of A & D lotion....I had a similar experience so I quit the application. I have found that many of lesser expensive moisturizers have a topical
anesthetic to help ease the pain. I tend to stay away from those I think that actually caused my skin to show those bumps because as soon as I wiped and washed it off the bumps
and redness went away....I tend to get rather large tats since my artist cuts me a deal...There are some really nice looking pieces here I am not good at taking photos especially of
myself and body suit size tats require some assistance so I will try and figure out who I can con into snapping a few shots so I can share!!!! Sorry for the rambling its the residual from'
last nights Tequila and AMSMO fun..My personal preference for Moisturizers is KERI Unscented then Aveno...2 cents added....

The only ink I have that doesn't get affected by allergies are the old india ink ones done with a guitar string needle and cassette recorder motor from back in my more colorful days with very colorful folks.

The only TRUE india ink that has kept its color was done by a little old man with bamboo when I was in Borneo....And it was the most painful of all the ones I have....it was very surreal setting he was like some kinda
medicine man witch doctor...but he saw my other tats and the interpreter told me that the village would take it as an insult if I did not allow him to sink some ink....cookcoooooo...so I have permanent souvenir from
Borneo on my chest...Its actually not tooo bad...however I don't plan on going back....

I would love to get a traditional medicine man tattoo. Seems like it would be painful but think of the stories. ;)

That's incredible! Very cool.
The ones I've mentioned are true India ink as well. My brother was very creative in his sources and chose to do some work on me in his prize ink. It has not faded in over 30 years.

I'm a BIG GUY...and this little medicine man was intense....when it was finally agreed that I would accept his offer to sink some ink he cracked a smile from ear to ear...come to find out that it was a test
that the Warriors were the only ones that received his ink as initiation...so because of my stature it was a huge privilege for him to ink what was in his mind this HUGE Warrior from another culture I think
about it now what kind of Story did he tell that night at the fire pit gathering about his experience...like I said it was surreal....one of my travel experiences...

Lol tattoos > hair coloring.

For me tattoos<hair coloring. Hair color isn't forever and I have a hard time feeling comfortable with having something forever...I have tats, but they aren't anything great. I need to step up my creativity and decide on a good forever tat.

Wow! lots of great tattoos and great advice here!

If you're looking for a more natural healing salve to use for your fresh tattoos, I highly recommend Sweet Bee Magic Skin Cream/salve. Many of my tattooed friends, as well as myself, have had great success with it - can easily be found at your local Whole Foods or on amazon (among many other places)

Here is my first one, designed in ritual and polished up with the help of my little brother (super talented artist) - few years old now but the fine lines are still nice and sharp (hard to capture a perfect pic of my own inner arm, so looks a bit better in the flesh...):

If you're in the LA area and looking for some awesome tattoo artists, check out The Dolorosa in Studio City :)

Currently in the process of turning my left leg from below the knee down to my toes into an iboga shrub (with some other sweet elements) and will post pics when it's finally finished

Keep on sharing your awesome tattoo guys! Love this thread....

I'm going to count myself lucky, I color my hair quite a bit and I've never had a reaction to the ink. I'm not sure what I would do if I suddenly had a reaction to haircolor.

Great tattoos everyone! Keep them coming

That's awesome! Seems like a totally different experience and if you don't mind the tattoo it must have all been worth it :)

Its hard to photograph yourself but here we go...

Theres a few touch ups done here still fresh, but the arm with the spartan is OLD!! The arm with the lettering is newer. I have stuff done from all over the country, even in peoples houses and garages LMAO not all were professionally done, but all of them tell a story.

Most of my tattoos are Greek related, I have Greek heritage, and a Greek last name. The one arm has a spartan helmet and shield, the other side has Poseidon holding a trident, My last name is incorporated, a skull with a knife thru its head, and a halo of thorns. Hidden in the tattoo, is a few dragons, a flaming head, and a marijuana leaf.

The other arm is my kids names, and the clock shows the date of mine and the wife's anniversary right under that is the Greek quote "victory or death"

This is one of my first, and needs touched up BAD, its real old, It was my last day state side and I decided on it last minute... So I got it done in one setting... rushed in 3 hours. The next day I shipped off to Korea in the army, and never let it heal up properly.... Needs touched up real bad.

The lettering was designed by a buddy of mine thats in prison for 20 something more years, It reminds me of him. The tribal stuff i put together from 3 different tribal tattoos

Both my legs are tatted as well.... But i just didnt feel like stripping and taking pictures LMAO

It was worth the experience just the trip into the bush in Borneo was awesome then to have this little guy with eyes that bore right through you wanting to give me
a tattoo...I feel very fortunate for the opportunity...the tat is cool for sure and because the bamboo pulls the skin up it is a slightly raised piece where the rest of my'
ink is flat smooth...Definately Worth it!!!!

Nice work, WW! O my garsh a cannabis leaf!?!!!?!you renegade!
Wanna be friends?
Shush now y'all mods we live in Colorado or Washington or some such....

LMAO, yea, I had it kind of hidden, and done lighter than the rest of the work so it wouldnt stand out :D I only hid it because I didnt want my children's teachers and stuff seeing it and judging me as a parent, then getting their A$$es kicked for judging me as a parent LMAO.

And for sure we can be friends :D

Honestly though herb is my medicine.... I enjoy it no doubt, but its more than recreational for me... I was injured overseas in the army, I had brain damage resulting in epileptic seizures...6 months in the hospital, when I was released, they still didnt know any more than they did the first day.... I kept having seizures for over a year while taking ALL the meds as prescribed, nothing got better... then i stopped all my meds and seen a different type of doctor. I havent had a seizure now in over 2 years, and I havent taken a single pill the entire time. People can say what they want but marijuana has changed my life for the better 100 times over.
