Inquiry about the Sibert162 Bushcrafter.

Well sitt`n on my azz tonight drinkin a few beers(ole lady went to hospital to see friend)got bored! Got me a custom sheath comin from Bayou Custom Sheath(THX Joey for promptly replying and answering my questions) Anyway, decided I`d put a dangler on the oem sheath. Used a black anodized steel d-ring, I sourced from a custom boat cover maker, and mutilated a D-cell Maglite hanger, Heres what I came up with!

I recently picked up one of these knives and so far, I am very impressed. The blade seems to hold an edge well. I was worried about the ergonomics, but the handle is quite comfortable. I will use this blade and see how it fares against some of my other outdoor knives.

I'm impressed with mine too, I know a lot of guys are apprehensive because of the look of the handle/scales and I was until I got one in my hands.

BarryJackson: Great work and a nice mod to the stock sheath, the black ring really looks good in that setup. I gotta serve you a couple beers and set you loose in my shop sometime, lol.:D

The spine on the Bushcrafter works great for striking a fire steel and the blade size covers my needs well.

I guess I'll add some of my knife/sheath pics to this thread too, this is the latest sheath I made it's got a Coyote Brown backing plate the leather belt-loop.

Great looking Kydex! I am sure I will need some, but I want to give the stock sheath a little love first.

I finally looked at one of these at my local REI store today. The knife is great; well balanced and with a good swell makes it very comfortable to hold. The G-10 scales are middle ground, not too rough or too smooth, dangit nearly perfect. I really like the S30V blade shape, looks like it's a slicer and surprise - nothing fancy...something I would actually use. It's close in appearance to a Bark River but heck it's a Benchmade, that's even better; and at a good price too.

Normally I gripe about the beautiful fixed blades Benchmade pairs with lousy sheaths, but this one is a winner; it's well made and holds the knife securely. It's actually refreshing since it's offered in brown/tan leather instead of 'Tactical' black, again this package looks like a winner. Last point is the welcome addition of an accessory loop for a fire starter or sharpening rod, you pick. That makes a plain sheath more interesting.

I'm not sure how I would use the large D ring, being an old belt carry guy. If I could figure out how to cut the ring off there Is a belt loop and that's a good thing, it lends some variation on how to carry the Bushcrafter.

This new offering in a very 'new knife shy' 2013 season is refreshing and deserves a second look!

Great review! The more I use mine, the more I am impressed with it. Tried a little more carving with it and it did very well.

ISP 5353: Thanks and a good idea, nothing wrong with having more than one sheath.

Harris2: Good review and thanks for sharing.

First time making a "collage" so hopefully this shows well, just a simple Kydex pancake setup in OD Green.

Thanks, I'm glad you like them. I'm with you on the S30V, I don't have a lot of experience with different or super steels (=not a metallurgical expert) but I've had a great experience with S30V (Graham & Leatherman).

Here's some pics of a Kydex Scout Sheath I made for the Bushcrafter that has a Nanostriker holder on the end and an ESEE-AH-1 Arrowhead mounted on the center between the straps.

The straps are stronger than leather and also spaced for molle-pals webbing.

^^^ WOW! What an awesome looking set up Godspeed! Very nice workmanship!

Thanks man, I appreciate that and I'm glad you like it.

Here's a setup I recently made for a hunting guide and I got some really good feedback from him about it. He wanted to carry a fire steel and a sharpening rod along with a pouch-tin setup (prepared for anything). Knife, sharpener, fire steel + + + +

This propoganda crap, has now made me insist to myself, that I need a couple of these. This thing, is a badass beast.

L2bravo, did you take care of that problem yet?:D There was one on the exchange but it had been sharpened/modded and there weren't pictures but I was thinking of picking up a second one myself.

Mo "propaganda" to push you over the edge (just in case): Blacked out setup

Love it Mr Godspeed! I just ordered a second 162, thinking about getting a custom sheath for it;)

RajinCagin: Thanks!

rlCanon: Great pics, what do you use the aircraft wire for on the bottom of the sheath? Also, I think I might've just mailed out a Gray taco sheath to ya... same name anyways. Took pics but they're not downloaded yet.

I made a Coyote Brown Scout Sheath w/Brown accessories and I'm really happy with how it came out, looks like it came out of the Reese's Factory. I like that, it's a Peanut Butter Chocolate Kydex Scout Sheath:
