sorry - got plans for labor day weekend.
OTOH, my closest Bacela's had a returned Emo Renegade XT for $256 today -- I'm thinking about picking it up on Wednesday if it's a decent model and the more experienced paddlers here think a sit on would work better for a fat boy like me than a sit in.

The SOTs are nice. Lots of gear storage too. Just a little slower, but who's in a hurry?

We will be paddling the Big Piney river near Duke, MO tomorrow. If anybody is in the area and would like to join us chime in and I'll PM you my phone number. Open to suggestions for a paddle on Sunday too if anybody is free and local.

I was contemplating going out that way anyway this weekend... I wouldn't be paddling (no kayak) but it might be fun to meet up if it does all work out.

Did a scouting trip on the Big Piney River today and it would be perfect for a Beckerhead float trip. There is a 23 mile section we can do as an overnighter and about a million great camp spots. Camping is allowed anywhere on the river and beer can be consumed. Good for kayaks, canoes, john boats and even tubes. If you don't have a boat, there is an outfitter that rents them at a very reasonable rate. It's located near Duke, Missouri. Let's do it.

Here's some pics to give you an idea of what we're talking about.

I like the fact that it has water in it. Makes it better to float ;)

If I didn't know better, I'd think that's the Harpeth.

I know! The cliffs and hills are a little higher and more numerous. Other than that it's very similar. It reminded us of the Buffalo Nat. River (only it had water in it). As a spring fed river the water was crystal clear and cold, which is nice, and you can camp anywhere on it (which is nice too). It's really a nice float.

Sorry, I didn't make it out there. The cache was already seized and I hadn't really slept. Looks like that is a nice li'l river to float on. If the outfitters have something that will fit me, I'd love to float on it with ya'll.

Damn. I was just a few miles away from there Friday night, but didn't see this thread till today.

If I had known, I would have strung up my hammock and met up with you on Saturday.

BeckerHead float trip there sounds good to me.

I know it was short notice. I think if we can get a few to make the trip it would be a blast.
