Intros all around

Hi, I'm Jason. Haven't posted much in this forum, but have been visiting it quite a lot picking up a lot of good info. Plan to do some more posting in the near future.
Bit about myself? I'm 18, currently in my first year of engineering at the U of S. I have been an outdoors fanatic since I can remember. Camping, fishing, hunting, hiking and the like. I am going to be hiking the West Coast Trail in May, so I'm really looking forward to that. Like most others here, I have a thing for the sharps. Been into Spyderco for the last year and a half.

I also have both my Private and Glider Pilot licenses. I could fly a plane before I could drive a car :) Gliding seasons are September to November, and April to June (basically, when there's no snow). I go gliding every weekend during these seasons with a group of pilots from Saskatoon. I also fly single engine planes whenever I can afford it. It gets quite expensive though to rent a plane. This coming summer I am going to become a Gliding Instructor and help others attain their license.

Attended, St-Jean 6 week progressive survival school.

I've been in and out of those gliders so many times.. while I was a cadet..:D

Hi guys,
My name is Israel Turley, I'm a knifemaker from Missouri and I love being in the woods. I just discovered this sub forum not long ago after being a member here for sometime. I'm kinda slow like that.
I have a huge interest in bushcraft and survival and hope to learn from my hours spent here instead of where I should be, ie making knives.
Glad to know you all,
Iz

Missed this the first time around... I'm Kat, 30, divorced, two cats. Nice to finally meet all of you! I've been interested in the wilderness since I was about three and could comprehend that there were places where people hadn't built anything. I'm too smart for my own good, and interested in entirely too many things to figure out which one I could focus on to make a good living. I found W&SS because I was researching BoB's and disaster preparedness.

My dad's side of the family has always been into hunting, but I never got invited along on those trips as a kid, I guess because I was a girl, and also too shy to ask? Well, my brother hated fishing, so my dad took me along and I love it still. There were also numerous family camping vacations and trips to the wildlife preserve + lake. When I got a checking account at 16, the first thing I bought was a spyderco folder. Nowadays I hike and camp when I can.

I do leatherwork; have made a lot of pouches and a couple of sheaths, still getting the hang of the latter. I also do metalwork but have never made a knife. I practiced aikido for 4 years, and came to the conclusion that while it certainly teaches you to be aware of where your body is and how it moves, I'd much rather have my CHL. If I ever take another MA again it'll be krav maga. Last year I bought an F-class rifle and took it to Boomershoot (.org); great fun.
