Better print up contracts to carry around with you every time you go shopping, too. Don't pay for your groceries until they agree to pay for your expenses in returning anything if you decide you are unhappy with it or believe that they misrepresented it.

a deal isnt done until both parties are happy OR until the seller offers to refund the money upon reciept of the knife back and the buyer doesnt wanna do that,

if ya arent happy, return the knife and get your money back, simple enough.

This is just a hypothetical situation at this stage, but my point was that if a knife is misrepresented, then return shipping should be on the seller. Of course this depends on the FS ad and other particulars, but I seem to recall this issue coming up in previous deal gone bad threads (ie. definition of "mint" disputes), so it does happen sometimes. Often with FS threads with no or poor pictures. You may not agree, but that is how I see it.

If the buyer is just unhappy, then return shipping should be on him.

If there is a dispute over whether the knife was misrepresented or not, than I would think the next logical step would be a compromise, or more likely to my way of thinking one of the parties just giving up and doing whatever the other party wanted just to be done with it!

Thankfully in this instance both parties were reasonable, despite some harsh words, and a resolution was reached.

Thread title should be changed.

Actually both of them handled themselves pretty well in this thread. Better than some of the normal crew that just have to comment in thread where they have absolutely no stake.

Well, well. If it isn't Justifier......I mean, Justabuyer:D How's that Strider investment you were so worried about holding up?:p

No, not at all. You got your little jab in at me (underlined quote in my post) and I returned the favor.;)

Astounding. Listen my friend my post was to the thread as a whole. That "jab" was not at you. The fact that you felt it was speaks well of you.

I suppose you (Justabuyer) are referring to me, too.

I contributed what I thought was an analysis based on my experience with various sharpening methods. If it's unwanted by the moderators, I expect to be informed that by them.

And, speaking of which, your dog in this fight is...?

I already detailed what I took away from this thread. You will note I did not take part in the fight because there was not one... Much to the dismay the Church ladys that haunt GB&U. In fact I was positive to-wards both participants in this trade.

Its there plain as the nose on your face, every time this thread looked like it might die off somebody flamed it. To be REALLY honest and looking at my own motivations my call for pictures while it seemed to me at the time would lend clarity to the thread, may have had a element of me smelling blood in the water. I am not proud of that.

But there is one post.... see if you can find it...short and pointless other than to cast useless, uninformed aspersions. That post reminded me of what I do not want to become.

This thread should never have been created. That's the crux here. No seller deserves to have their name slandered that way. After seeing the pictures it looks like a factory edge to me.

Justabuyer has the right to his own opinion like anyone else here. That's why we call it a discussion forum, remember?

Ok, tawk amongst yaselves, tawk amongst yaselves...:D

I tried to change the thread name and it only changed under my first post. The main link won't change. I would love to take it off.

I told Irezumi that it was very nice of him to offer that sharpener to me for free, but I do not want to take it. I offered to pay him. I never wanted to profit off of this.

Thanks to all those who posted for their time and effort. The good thing is Irezumi and I have spoken alot and we are now friends. That was the whole point I guess. Everything is good now and I hope this goes away.

Brian Jones, if you're a moderator maybe you could do something about the title, or just take the thread down? Thanks again.

actually, as a gold member, you can now lock this thread. Click on thread tools and select lock thread.

Good l uck!

That's a known vBulletin bug. I fixed it for you.

Brian Jones is a moderator in another forum (Wilderness & Survival Skills). Of course he is entitled to express his opinions here in TGB&U, same as anyone else.

Yes, technically he could. We decided to enable that to keep old for-sale threads from being dredged up long after the knife has been sold, and with vBulletin software it isn't possible to enable that in the Exchange without also enabling it in TGB&U, so it is enabled here now.

We've had occasions in the past when a Platinum Member has started an argument in TGB&U and then when he starts losing tries to stop it by locking the thread, and now that the feature is enabled for Gold Members too I expect to be seeing it more often. Of course that will never end an argument; people can just start a new thread, but occasionally someone will try it.

makes perfect sense. the only reason I suggested it is that it at least SEEMS that the argument is over and resolved.

Thanks for the response.

takecare,
Brett

Thank you, Cougar, saved me from saying it. And guys, we subforum moderators only have the technical options to play with that stuff in our own forums.

Besides, why would I want to do that? Perhaps people will think harder before they post threads they might later regret. Changing history still won't change what was said in the minds of those who saw the original.

Sounds like maybe a lesson to be learned here.
