Is and Is not

In my mind an EDC blade is not a weapon for the general public, though pressing it in to a tactical roll or that mind set is for others.
What do you mean?

You don’t believe the guy trying to mug you with his edc knife has a weapon?

You don’t believe that the “general public” should be ALLOWED to use their EDC knife as a weapon?

If you’re saying that an EDC knife is a poor weapon, I still disagree and refer you to the picture below that includes one of my favorite EDC blades…

I wish I could open carry a sword. 😪
Come to Cali!! Believe it or not - perfectly legal here!! 👍

I still have one bali and a handful of autos, and I don't play with them. My bali has sat on my desk for almost 14 years - I have opened it once in that time.

If a knife was 2 handles, it would suck, because no force

ETA: Oops - I read that last comment as “if a knife HAD two handles it would suck”. 😅
(Two handles are awesome!)

I would say any slip joint and spring loaded locking knife can be defined as a machine as it has mechanical spring power.

Now once u have opened an otf to clean/service, that is a pretty impressive little mechanical machine right there.

I often cut food on my plate with my fork. Does that mean my fork is a knife?
Sure.
Now, I contest that the fork does a poorer job of cutting than a knife, but it can obviously be done.

I've also stabbed at food with my knife like I would a fork, but the fork does a better job.

So wrong tool for the job but both are still tools. Since you can stab with both, both are weapons. If they're fancy and made of silver they're also display pieces, like using "the good china" for guests.

Wait a minute, dude. “Weapon” is on both your lists, and that can’t be right.

Semantics, schemantics. So now we need to argue over pronouns for knives?

A knife in its most basic form is a stick attached to a sharp pointy piece of metal. Of all its possible uses, a kniife is a tool. Although there are knives made as weapons formself-defense--stiletto,, not much other use, and very effectively designed to kill easiy and qickly. I've even tested $20.00 stilettos, and they will pierce 1/2" plywood.
If we examine everything that can be used as a defensive weapon, it's a pretty long list.
But if a list was made for all uses of a knife, it probably tops them all. We would all be better off teaching kids that knives are tools. And, knives can be carried by women. There is certainly no obstcle. But many fewer women do, because of the masculine/feminine aspect, like large watches and small watches.
Finally, a knife is an extension of the utility of the hand.
I had 32 motorola handie-talkies to recase: new front case, speaker if needed, decals like on/off/vol, channel #, logo decal, knobs and antennas if they were junk. But they all had to be taken apart. I did the whole job with a box of parts and a SAK
