Next thing is - the feel. Few Benchmades I held in my hands (Bugout, Griptilian and mini Griptilian) felt cheap. I know they aren't cheap, but they feel cheap.
None of the couple dozen Benchmades I have feel cheap. They certainly feel better in my hand than a Hogue Deka or a Demko 20.5.

It is true that Benchmade prices have gone up a lot in the past year, but so have Spydercos and lots of other things. If you want the best deal for your money, I would suggest a Civivi Cogent with 14C28N.

I'm European. The fact it's made in America means pretty much nothing to me.
Your feelings have no bearing on the fact that it's more expensive to build knives in the US than in a lot of other places, pretty sure that's more the point that was being made here. It wasn't being implied this should cause you to personally put a premium on this fact.

IMO they are generally overpriced but if you don’t mind too much you have some good knives in their portfolio

This one I can definitely understand, I agree the polymer handle models do feel "cheap" to me as well, especially the entry level bugout. Go for the g10 or carbon fiber models and they'll have an entirely different feel in hand.

If you don't want them, don't buy them. It's pretty dang simple. Are the opinions of strangers really going to sway you one way or the other? I like Benchmade, and I think they're overpriced. Worth is relative...which is the same thing so many people say every week when one of these threads comes up. I happen to think every single WE and Civivi are overpriced and I wouldn't carry one if someone gave it to me. Does that mean people should throw theirs away? No, it doesn't....

From what I’ve seen from Hogue, they make a better Benchmade than Benchmade does. And for what you get, they’re the better value as well.

Today I just received a new pivot screw from Benchmade service in less than two weeks to Canada.
No proof of purchase, no begging or pleading to just send it across the border.
I am going to assume it would be the same if I need to replace a spring.
They just went up a bunch of marks in my books.
I was ill informed that they would not help me in Canada

Most models are not worth their current retail prices, and this is true for most other brands including ZT and Spyderco. Many knives passed through my hands and I still have 5 Benchmades, 5 ZTs and 1 Spyderco, so I guess I do like Benchmade folders.

Yes, it is more expensive to make a knife in USA, and still - I don't care. What I care about is the end product.
There are also other knives made in USA that are better deal.
There are knives made in Europe that are better deal...

You care for the end product or better deal ? Just curious.

I sold the 4 Benchmades I had years ago (2015 I believe). Between exorbitant (in my mind) price increases, poor quality control, and political issues I swore them off. Then, in my evolution of determining what I like and don't like in I knife, I came to dislike thumbstuds which elimiates most Benchmades anyway.

Edit:

I have knives made all over, yet the only ones that needed warranty service were made here in the USA. I still prefer knives made in the USA, if they are well made. I don't like having to use CS, no matter how good it is.

Sounds like you’ve made up your mind. Not sure why you started the thread but maybe time to close?

I'm European. The fact it's made in America means pretty much nothing to me.

It simply means that the wages of the people making the knife will be higher compared to Asian workers. Just like with European knives. I got a pretty Böker trench knife. It cost me roughly $160. But if you think about it, it is supposed to be a simple design, easily mass reproducible made of high carbon steel. Nothing special if you think about it. Clearly I didn't really pay for quality, cutting edge materials, "German engineering" or anything like that. I paid for the high wages of the workers in Germany who made the thing.

At this point it will likely be worse. Chinese manufacturing is way ahead.
No, it is definitely not. I order and use well over $50k worth of auto parts a year. Unfortunately, some comes from china. Chinese manufacturing is not ahead. It is cheaper because they use lower paid and slave labor.
