Is One Blade Enough?

My pack probably weighs 5+ pounds it self. I have a medium Alice pack and I made an EMT steel frame for it. Mostly because it was cheap and easy (kinda like me :D) and an original frame cost like $30 used and bent up.

My wife has actually said that she would drop me off in the mountains and let me 'find my way home' with only 5 things. I'm thinking when it warms up around here I'll have to take her up on that :D talk about ultra light ;)

but I have this thing, it's called a penis, and someone once explained to me that having one of those means you don't get to act like a pansy. Could be wrong, but I always took that to heart.

I think I got one also, were did you buy yours at?

I think when it comes down to it, packing "ultra light" is great as long as you have everything you need. My question for people who pack ultra light is.... do you REALLY have everything you need? My regular hiking buddy is one of those who always complains about things being "too heavy". He picks up a gun and goes "it's too heavy", he picks up a pack and goes, "it's too heavy". If I didn't say anything to him, he'd have 1 small bottle of water and a bag of nuts in his pack.

Whereas I'm carrying a trauma pack, survival kit, my knives and enough food and water to last me for a couple of days if I were to get lost/trapped. What really pisses me off is he has this mentality of, "He has everything so if I need it I'll just use his".

The way I see it is, you can't pack light without compromising something. Also depending on a person's age and level of fitness. If you're 50+ and not exactly in the best shape, you SHOULD pack light, but if you're not senior citizen status, you just need to suck it up and just see it as strength training and a challenge.

I bought one from evilbay. It's a black tactical version. My wife loves it. I would never wear it backpacking though. It's super heavy.

:D

I'm thinking about getting a Timex brand.
Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.........

I got a Becker pecker. Made of solid, 1095Crovan...bombproof, and will last me a lifetime.

OOOHH, who had that listed? All I can find is white and they don't have the size I want.

Things got...side tracked. Atleast the tension is gone. lol

:) .......Something that I picked up in this thread was Becker choice for your style\type of outdoor activity. No one Becker can do it all for some, but Flexx made a good case for the 7. Lighter than some but still big\strong enough for general use.....Interesting. The 7 seems to get bypassed because of the 9. Is the 7 the best one knife Becker considering size\weight etc. ?
