Is One Blade Enough?

Flexxx, I understand typos and grammatical mishaps happen but c'mon, the word is "accept." ACCEPT IT, SERIOUSLY!

Anyhoo, long story short, stop being so judgemental people! If someone wants to pack ultralite, so be it, let them be concerned about the weight savings they lose when a fly lands on them. If someone wants to pack heavy and walk around with a forge's worth of steel hanging about, let them! As long as they are not hiking/camping together... then there should be peace on Earth.

Someone mentioned ultralite hikers who have the mentality of "Oh, I'll just borrow someone else's stuff if I need it." Well, there's a special layer of Hell just for them, right along with used car salesmen, lawyers and rapists.

Help me stay alive while lost, waiting for evac., making my way towards civilization. That's my primary knife role in that situation, but I understand your point Flexxx.

A folder and a medium sized good quality FB should be able to process just about anything you want, with a bit of creativity. If you are in the PacNW like I am, and hiking in a boreal forest there should be plenty of good fire sized dead fall all over the place. You shouldn't have to chop up tree's for firewood. I've gone on 5 day hikes with just a tenacious, and that worked for me.

And what happens if you run into big foot, packing wood, and a twinkle in his eye? Patrol machete is lookin' good now huh ?:D

Is one blade enough if you find yourself in the movie Deliverance?
100lb packs or 3oz packs, either way, You got a purty mouth.

what will my blade do for me? Well, if I just think, what would Bear Grylls do... I would only carry a Gerber Gator, take every risk possible, go skinny dipping and most likely have to drink my own urine. And I would not only survive, but I would thrive without anything bad happening.

Can you get by with just one knife, and if so, what is it?

If there was some kinda world wide knife destruction thing and knives were all of a sudden illegal, and I was able to stash one away from the ''authorities'' I would think that one knife would be enough for me. :D I think with out a knife I'd go a little crazy ;)

I dont think I could live in a world without knives...

My want list is just too long. I wanna hawk too, but my Plumb hatchet will do for now.

Mine too, I have a rather large bonus coming up in a month and I have 3 pistols on my list. I considered dropping one of the pistols to make room for more knives, but I just can't choose between the pistols. I'm having to sell off two that I own to make it an okay purchase with the wifey. She says my hobbies are too expensive... I really don't see the problem.

My other hobby is hotrods. Those are expensive.
wife: 'where are you going now?'
me: 'I need to go buy a new engine and trans because the coolest newest one just came out, and it has 100 more HP stock than the one I have now does'
wife: 'ok but don't spend too much money on it.'
me: 'ok they are only $4000 for the engine and $2000 for the trans.'
wife: 'can you pick up some milk on your way home?'

with knives though.
wife: 'what the ----- is this?!?! Did you get another knife?!?! How much did you spend?'
me: 'something like 30 or 40 bucks; why?'
wife: 'you are spending waay too much money on these knives.'
me: 'ok, I'll cut back for a while.'

well it's sort of true :D but the knife one it totally true.

Yeah, i told my wife I bought 3 knives in the past 2 weeks each for over $100 and she was like, "what the crap!?!?!" but its all from my allowance so it's all gravy!
