The fine print seems to say that any TRANSACTION promoting hate, bigotry, or violence is grounds for the penalty... don't really see anything implying they'd attempt to penalize you for personal social media comments.

Now, if you've ever visited the websites of any hate groups, particularly legit Neo Nazi groups who actually think Hitler was a great dude, some of them have been known to sell merchandise including T shirts advocating ethnic cleansing and such.

I reckon if one were selling T shirts of that nature, PayPal might justifiably be appalled if you were accepting PayPal to spread the message of "LETS KILL ALL THE (race/religion)!!!" That makes sense.

Really? Not sure how they think they can get away with that one. It was widely reported.

Come on bro step up your understanding of psy-ops.

1. The original fact published by PayPal was the $2500 fine.
2. The backlash made PayPal change their policy.
3. The current policy means there is no fine.
4. Fact checkers use point 3 to state point 1 does not exist. They ignore it did exist a week prior and only state it does not now exist.
5. It does not now exist therefore the the whole thing is a hoax....the past has been re-written.
6. Fact checking is now a gas-lighting propaganda service for big tech.

Midterm elections are coming up...
If you donate or buy merch from a political commentator/anybody who commits wrongthink, you're now spreading misinformation/hate speech.

Remember when Turdeau's goobernment froze people's bank accounts because they dared to donate to the freedom truckers...i mean raycist truckers? Little donations of 25CAD and your accounts were frozen. Government worked with big tech to find all those evil wrongthinkers.

A lot of vdeos/posts of people showing their frozen bank accounts are being scrubbed from the net...

Do you do this often?
I think you’re missing the point.

Let’s do a more fairly innocuous example. Your online browsing has cookies and trackers following your internet traffic all over the place. Say you go and pay for a knife through PayPal’s online portal. Surely you read the terms of use, which probably indicate PayPal’s stuff is tracking you (not unlike Facebook). Then you visit Fox New’s website, and then you go look at some bubba’d trash on Gunbroker. Well, PayPal’s tracking items now have you pegged for as a right wing extremist and now decides that on your next sale it will freeze and take the funds.
See how easily that happens?

ETA: just saw your later reply. My post still stands, but this is a scary truth that you’re aware of.

What I mean is I signed up for square a while ago and just looked again at the terms of service and it has weapons as one of the unacceptable transactions. I guess I didn't mean make the connection before because I dint intend my work as weapons with a few notable exceptions. But that mean stuff what to square don't sell the ginunting but he chef knife is fine, but then it's up to the same discretion to leave you alone or attack you.

Now that ebay doesn't require paypal it's less of an issue.

Alteratively, there have been a lot of paypal competitors that have cropped up in the last 5 years. Paypal, which used to be the gold standard (and the only way for non incorporated entities to conveniently receive online payments) is one method among many that are now available. Their stock, which peaked at a $306 million dollar market cap back in 2021, has now been reduced to $96 billion.

They are doing major damage control right now in trying to analyze social media posts (companies exist that actually try to measure blowback these days, e.g. - how many accounts tweeted the #deletepaypal hashtag) by running articles through wallstreet related "news agencies" stating things like "experts say this negative response will have little change on the companies bottom line, HOLDL!".

I for one hope they get hit so hard they actually learn a lesson. The whole global corporate technocracy being rolled out can suck a fat one. Hopefully one day sooner than later these massive companies will realize there is more profit margins in both appreciating your customers and taking care of them.

Not very often unless something's going on, but some folks in our network have been monitoring comms of extremist groups on both sides of the political spectrum. My own focus was more on New Age religious cults. Politics never interested me much, as it's mostly smoke, mirrors, and lotsa stupid people shouting slogans.

And we know which side of the aisle will never have to worry about PP...
If the events of the past several years, and especially the last two years, hasn't woken up the masses of people, then there's no hope for them imho.
