Is pay-pal entering the role of speech police ?

Feels really weird now... I deleted my Paypal account a few minutes ago. I deliberated for a few days on this, but to be honest I've been considering it for some time. It was great at the time, but I think it's time to move on. I really can't support them anymore for various reasons besides this one incident. I guess I'll be that Applepay/USPS MO guy on the exchange from now on!

As a side note, I received about 15 form-letter emails from Paypal about 60 seconds after cancelling, naming various places I used Paypal stating the same thing. Must be an automated account closed thing.

"This email confirms that you have cancelled your payment agreement with <various vendor names>. No further payments will be made from your PayPal account to this merchant. If you have any further questions about the agreement, or wish to reinstate it, please contact <vendor> directly."

I'm feeling bold. Maybe eBay is next on the chopping block?

It can be a real eye opener finding out that you've got a bunch of recurrent charges that get paid automatically

This here is the main reason I this thread .

But as has already been made clear by online payment systems like PayPal and Venmo, even more silencing of alternative points of view is needed in the form of financial strangulation if necessary, which can occur via shutting down accounts entirely or, in PayPal’s case, will soon also potentially include $2,500 fines for WrongThink, according to a recently updated

Hey Oneill! Glad to see you're on the M.F.! This has been getting a LOT of traction on a couple of the gun forums I'm on....so I thought I would check back in here to see what's been going down.

I can’t take this 1984 crap anymore. It’s getting out of control. There is so much arbitrary language in this new policy, I find it hard to believe it’s legal. Yet, we’re going to test these waters? Personally, I’m done with these people. I have my limits. I’m not risking having $2500 taken from me because I type the word “knife” or phrase “I’m bothered by the power financial platforms have” somewhere, only to have some soulless AI hit on the word and activate an untransparent 0 oversight process. This is beyond the pale. Realize who you’re dealing with.

Check their stock price. Telling.

Canceled! Go woke, go broke.

I will be removing my account and look for a new source for payment transactions.

I just closed my account. I only used it to pay Spark for my gold membership. And I closed my Venmo.

^^^^^ Kudos to all of you member's here who still have a pair of balls, and whom are wiling to take a hard line stance against this type of insanity "WOKE" BS!

When I first learned of this dirty bomb that PayPal dropped on us, I immediately logged in, with the sole intent of deleting my bank account I had linked to my PP account (which I did). Shortly thereafter, as I was scrolling around, I noticed the "deactivate your account" link.....and I thought to myself- "F these guys!!!" and deactivated my account entirely, as well as requesting that they delete all of my personal data.

This morning, I received a total of 8 follow up identical emails from them (on top of about the dozen or so other emails they've already sent prior), stating that per my request, they were in the process of deleting my personal data.

I'll just use my Zelle account (which I've never had any problems with FWIW), USPSMO, or Western Union, if need be....
And thanks to this new "Build Back Better," leadership destroying this once great Nation, raping us all over again ($$$) on anything over $600 requiring a 1099, I'm pretty much done with all hobbies. I may still occasionally buy/sell/trade something, but it will be either in person, or only with someone I know and trust!

Hell, I'd buy myself a Basic membership here if I had the funds, so I could do some trading.....but I need to put food on the table, and gas in the tank....

Does anyone here know, whether Spark would be willing to accept installments on a Basic Membership? My birthday's coming up at the end of October. 🏄‍♂️

Finally. I’ll tell ya what’s bugging me more than anything right now - they don’t just keep a history of your transactions, they keep an active link open between your account and every entity you’ve ever paid to or received funds from. One of those that were closed was with Meta - I haven’t had a FB account (or any other social media account) in years, and I surely don’t remember paying them anything. Also several games I’ve long since deleted - because they were even more scummy than PP. It’s very disconcerting that those and others still existed, and I certainly feel even more relieved that they’re now closed as well.

Easy on the politics, this isn’t the PA.

And despite an A+ rating on the BBB, the Nuvei profile on the BBB site has 10 customer reviews, 8 of which are one star. So neither of these companies will get my business at this time.

The Karens are running this country and pretty much all their ideas are bad and destructive, but corporations are afraid of them. Paypal has been dicking over sportsmen for a long time now. It was only a matter of time before they got to "assault" knives. Ive been reverse screwing them, paying for guns, knives and ammo with Family and Friends for years now. Never had a single problem. Because people in these communities generally are salt of the Earth types and the ones that are scammers are pretty easily spotted.

I think anything that is an outlier to “basic” is going to eventually be frowned upon or flagged. The center of the bellcurve of society is just a basic milquetoast individual. Someone with a 9-5, working in an office, spends a great deal of their money at Trader Joe’s and Starbucks… has no real personality. Highlight of their weekend is shopping for IKEA furniture and going to a farmer’s market. These people are afraid of pocketknives.. and pocketknives are in their minds “weapons”. These are the people that work at places like PayPal, and so they’re going to make decisions based on their bias.

Eventually many of these “banks” will eliminate what they consider “risk” the more we depend on data and algorithms.

Its all the "systemic flaw" in The Matrix. Democracy only works when you have a nation of people with a shared understanding of basic truths and a code of morality that emphansizes that healthy adults must exercise individual responsibilty and engage in hard work. Right now we have neither, we have mob rule by people who cant think past their next meal or orgasm. And unless the rest of us get off our fucking asses and make some sacrifices to be as loud and disruptive as they are, we are facing an escalating probability of disaster. Just remember when you go to work tomorrow that Michael Moore and Shannon Watts are millionaires and became millionaires by being termites on the foundation of the nice civilization that we go to work everyday to build and maintain.

We are not a democracy - we are a Constitutional Republic. But they are trying to turn us into a democracy - and we know what comes after a democracy...

We can argue details and semantics but at the state level we most certainly are since they changed election of Senators to popular vote. The bottom line is that my moms ultra cuck left wing cousin in PA that "retired" at 52 to mooch off of disability (oh I have fibromyalgia and a bad knee!) and ACA subsidies that I pay for has the same power of the vote that people like me who work in the private sector and pay tens of thousands of dollars in state and federal income tax have. As you might guess hes a huge supporter of Marijuana Man-tits aka John Fetterman. This paradigm we are living in is not a fornula for long term sustainability of a nation. Paypal stealing members money based on our unapproved lifestyle is just another domino to fall.

That doesn't change the fact that we are a Constitutional Republic. And it isn't semantics either. But they are trying to move us to a democracy so that they can make us socialist, and then communist. That's the way that I see it.
