The fact checkers have now claimed this entire event didn't happen. When professional online fact checking services lie & rewrite their own facts to make an event never happened is a bigger crime than the original incident.

Fuk this gay earth.
Who controls the past, controls the future.

Who controls the present, controls the past.

Yes.

Or one could just stop doing business with PayPal.

I thought about it and realized that I've been using PP as a credit card. I don't like credit cards, but I guess I should get a couple of real credit cards and put PP in the trash bin. And open a Cash App account for sending money to my kids or someone.

I never realized I gave them permission to yank money from my checking account for fines. I suppose they have all the info they need though. $2500 is right at that mark where a lawyer probably costs more than that to sue them, so...

I don't care how much it costs; I'll sue them on principle. I would first look for a law firm that is putting a class action together against them and join it.

David Mary David Mary Their statement includes costs of monitoring and tracking - so salary of the low level employee and the higher up(s) that review the findings...perhaps equipment & supply costs, as well. There was also something about the harm that PayPal could anticipate due to the violations - legal fees, loss of business, political support, etc.
They'll have no trouble justifying $2500, lol.

GAGL GAGL I had no issue closing my account when I got the email notice about changes...I didn't even get the (expected) Sorry to lose you, please indicate why page during the process. I suspect you are correct, and the problem is simply PayPal trying to slow the rate of abandonment while the spin doctors work their magic...and hope people change their minds or forget they they were outraged.

I just got a message from PP customer service...She said there was a "warning" and they need a valid proof of ID and address before they can close my account. No mention on what the "warning" is about...

I told her i prefer to not upload a copy of my ID and that i'll take legal actions if they don't close it soon.

we'll see what happens...

I reread it again. "If we believe... at our sole discretion"

I think you might be right. I think they might be trying to give themselves wiggle room to incorrectly assess a "violation" and not be held accountable for taking their customer's money. Tentatively looking into alternatives.

I will admit it's alarming how they are leaving things loose to interpretation.

I have been using Venmo as well. I'll take a look at their agreements to see if they are the same.

Hold on, this keeps getting deeper. Just spread more misinformation about your own policy of misinformation. Thats a tongue twister.

“PayPal Says It Never Intended to Fine Users for ‘Misinformation’”

Paypal has just announced that its recent announcement that it would fine users $2500 for spreading misinformation was just Paypal spreading misinformation about itself.

So, am I getting this right, Paypal is spreading misinformation right now?

Sooooo... if I were to post that "Wimmen ain't got tallywhackers" PayPal might seize the $27.92 currently in my account?
And, they could take the balance from the associated bank account... At least by the phrasing that existed at the time

When I get my $2500 disbursement, I'll consider opening a new account.

Looks like the "something needs to be resolved" and "we need valid proof of ID" is a deliberate tactic to keep people from closing their accounts...

Also endless buffering, which i also experienced...

Please take the time to watch this video before it gets removed for "misinformation". This guy explains the whole situation pretty well.

Really? Not sure how they think they can get away with that one. It was widely reported.
