I spoke with him on the phone years ago, he's a great guy and will chat your ear off if you like talking knife (well, obviously all of us do :D). I never got into the whole gangsta thing, but it is funny and he is also based out of my hometown. A lot of Corpus Christi folk in this thread alone :)

I can't help but wonder whether that attitude of his actually appeals to his fan base... What, knife maker to the rappers or something.
I mean, how many of us knife collectors are into that kind of stuff?

At least one! ;):thumbup: But seriously, he seems to have a pretty good customer base, 'cause his blades sell out quickly.
 
I haven't seen his youtube videos, so I don't know if he's crazy, but I don't care in the slightest. Checked out his site, saw some extremely cool stuff, especially the resistor.
 
I have a few of his Benchmade designs: 201 Activator+ (fb), 420 Gravitator, and 425 Resistor, They are nice knives - certainly nice designs. I believe the 201 is the only one still in production at Benchmade - and there hasn't been a new Snody design there in years that I recall. None of my three look very 'gangsta' - or even 'tacticool' for that matter - or I wouldn't have bought them.

He makes really awesome knives, and yes, the whole $$dolla dolla bill yall$$ spiel seems to be marketing.

I think he's great. I love his knives.

I love his knives, I meant this gangsta stuff he is using as a marketing tool. I wonder what kind of appeal that has among knife enthusiasts.;)
 
Jaxx, I wished I'd scored that damascus hybrid.

I used to own one like that, wished I'd never sold it.

I really like his folders...the gangsta stuff is marketing, but is FUN. I'm sure it's tongue-in-cheek.

Am waiting for Mike to work on my folders, it's been years....

I saw the youtube videos before I saw his work. Now after seeing his stuff, I wouldnt care if he was a cat stroking psyco, the guy makes some seriously desirable blades. :thumbup:
 
I'll say,IMHO,his approach is different &,to me,very entertaining.
I definitely would be turned off,BUT,looking at images of knives, (and I've never handled one),I am not turned off by his approach.
Almost fascinated,'cause his knives look really,really,good.

Mike's knives are cool,and the man can grind.
the gangsta thing looks like an act,unless all you guys think it's normal for white boys to behave like that.if that's the man's persona,power to him,he gives a shit and he's doing his thang or pimping his shit or whatever ganstas do.
 
Talked to Mike on the phone once and he was a hell of a nice guy:thumbup: Nothing like the you tube vids, so I think for the most part it's for show and marketing.
Maybe he is into the gangsta music, I have no idea??? I'm not into gangsta at all, but it wouldn't stop me from buying his knives even if he was. He's a great knife maker...I know that much for sure!



He and Horton(I've talked to J Horton at Blade, here, and on phone and he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet!) had a hater make a you tube vid that was darn funny, even Jeremy thought so,lol.

Here it is for a good laugh...have to give it to the hater on one thing, he was creative:D
