Is there any knife/brand you’re drooling on, but don’t take the plunge?

I'll probably be banned for Saying this but... Spyderco! I love the Tri-Ad lock so much that I often fantasize about the PM2. But can't quite pull the trigger on it due to my faith and loyalty to Cold Steel. I don't have disposable income. Please go easy on me boys.

Ya. A knife by TK Steingass. Its a serious drool too. It's just a matter of time till he gets my money. Sometimes it's the money, sometimes it's the handle or the size or something. They are all beautiful, but one day he's gonna post up something i'm just not gonna be able to pass on.

I am having a hard time with some knives, of some european brand. A hard time because I like them, but I know they have been prone to huge issues. I love the design, the colors and the materials, the knife is expensive (around $300) but still manageable… They often go into my shopping cart, but ultimately I remove them. But I want one so bad, it’s obsessive!

Am I the only one suffering from this? Do I need an analyst instead of yet another cutting tool?

Please no brand bashing, keep it civilized :)

Good thread, so few these days...
There are so many it wouldn't be easy to narrow down to one but if I must... a Kirby Lambert Orion or Spear point... I love his work and once gave up one of his recurve folders earlier in my knife life. At the time all my sharpening skills were trickle down from kitchen knives and the recurve scared me. Boy do I want that one back, but I will settle for a replacement........ someday....... someday.......

The PM2 does not have a Tri-ad lock.

I don't tend to dwell on or drool on things I'm not willing to or able to afford. I don't find it to be very healthy or productive.

I want one of TA Davidsons slip joints. I'm not really a slip joint enthusiast but if I could just get one.

For me it's the Fallkniven northern lights series. Beautiful, classic blades, but stacked leather handles can be a bit of a pain maintenance wise compared to more modern materials. Plus I can never decide which one I want most so I'd have a starting point.

Fällkniven A1 pro. I want it baaaaaad.. But at the same time I have the regular A1 and I'm sooo happy with it that throwing out the cash for the pro just seems like a dumbass idea right now. Sigh...

I've been holding out on the Slysz Bowie. Not a rediculous price but very few found second hand. It's too similar in construction to the other titanium frame locks I own that it's a bit of an overlap. Plus the blade shape isn't ideal to me. So I've held off even though it gets great reviews.

This!

getting ready to buy another wolfgang loerchner fixed blade masterpiece...costs more than some cars...will be my 3rd!! jzs

Recently, I've been having an eyes-only relationship with the SHY folders from Stedemon, specifically the tanto blades. The prices stop me, though: they're effectively charging $300 extra for one-piece titanium handles on top of the price of the knife in G10 (which, admittedly, seems like a reasonable deal). For that price I remain far from convinced that a large Sebenza with some sick inlays or maybe a smaller Busse is not a wiser investment.

I have the same relationship with the Stedemon Knife Company SHY IV . I keep looking at them but can't pull th trigger because of the price.

That is because other chinses companies charge a lot less for similar knives and I wonder if the only reason they Stedemon SHY's cost more is they are in being shipped from an American retailer which marks them up.

Wish I could find then for about $50-$60 . Which is more along what china would sell them for.

A Damasteel Grosserosen Todd Begg Field Marshall. I might not mind parting with the better part of a grand for one if I didn't already have the standard "Poor Man's" Steelcraft Field Marshall.

I have a list on my phone of 'wants' the ones on there the longest in descending order have been:

4) slysz bowie
3) southern grind spider/bad monkey
2) rockstead
1) William henry lancet.

Funny thing is that I randomly impulse buy stuff not on the list at all. I should really just save and get these ones knocked over.

I really don't see me ever being able to justify the expense, but I'd love one of these.

I temper my knife passion by only purchasing knives that I will actually use. This limits some of the fancier customs and safe queens. Secondly, I ask myself I can afford to replace it if it got lost. Meaning I should be financially secure to immediately replace it should I lose it.

I'm currently drooling over a Protech Harkins.

A Fallkniven folder. I've wanted one for years, especially the tk3 or fh9. I don't know why I don't buy one. Yeah they're kind of pricey but I have fixed blades that are just as pricey and more. The little folder I could carry every day. Not sure why I don't own one.

have 2 ray appleton's...would like a 3rd, but don't want to spend $20,000+ and have 2 wolf loerchners, but don't want to spend $25,000 for a 3rd...jzs

I've been drooling over CRK Mnandi knives for a while now, but somehow haven't pulled the trigger yet, always something else comes along (I am a sucker for higher end small fixed blades...)
Anyways, hopefully this Christmas it will be mine
