Is there anyone out there without any cuts???

"Is there anyone out there without any cuts ??"
...Not Bloody Likely, 😆 Lol

I believe it was one of the wise blade elders who said that a knife is not truly yours until it's tasted your blood...words to live the Knife life wholeheartedly.
B.T.B. 😎

I use knives all the time, but rarely get cut enough to draw blood. Every couple weeks I get a light cut that breaks the skin, but the reflexes cut in with a jolt before any blood is spilled. Every few years I cut myself with a knife, usually not enough for stitches, and hope it's enough of a reminder so it happens even less frequently. I make it a habit to never use sharp and pointy things absent minded or without focus, which is when things generally go wrong. It's possible to be surrounded by knives and not be complacent about safety. I've seen a lot of people hurt themselves over the years, and they've been good teachers of what not to do.

I'm reminded of a saying I heard once- "Show me a man without scars and I'll show you a man without character".
I probably have more character than anyone then!

Chicks are supposed to dig scars...

They never helped me a bit with the Ladies!

Yeah the scars on my leg mostly get stares or the occasional "what the hell?" Burn scars though, not blade.

Anyone ever buy one of the suture training skins ? Slab of fake flesh that allows a person to practice closing wounds. I’m thinking it might be a popular item after reading through this thread 😂

Skin staplers can be purchased very cheap as well - in case you only have one functional hand.

Been cut many times but not for a while. Got a good one on the pad of my right thumb. On the tip of that thumb, there is almost no feeling.

Not often, but make up for it in severity. About 25 or so years ago, (maybe longer) I had a then new Gerber A425, one of the cast aluminum handle series, Pretty good blades. I still have it. I was cleaning a deer, after dark, my hands were all covered in blood, and i was trying to separate one of the hindquarters while hanging onto it with one hand. The knife slipped somehow, not sure to this day exactly what I did, I've dressed a LOT of deer. Anyway, I drew the blade across the palm of my hand laying it open. I didn't want to go to the ER but finally did, after saturating two bath towels with blood. 10 sets of sutures....Still have the scar, but it isn't too bad, it healed well...

I wouldn't compare getting nicked with a pocketknife to be the same thing as looking down the barrel of a gun like that, or any "r/idiotsiwthguns" type behavior. Every single person here has felt the bite of a blade in their life, at least a little nick, and honestly, anyone saying otherwise is lying, haha.

I've cut myself bad enough to get stitches 4 times in the last 45 years, always doing stupid stuff with a blade. I've had numerous other minor cuts but I only really remember the ones that needed stitches.

It is very uncommon for me to cut myself working with a knife, but the back of my old hands and arms look like I fought bobcats for a living. A great deal of the cuts came from metal studs or barb wire.
I have had more cuts from barb wire than from knives. Barb wire hurts more than a sharp, smooth knife blade.

A few days ago I sharpened up my S90V Native Chief with ceramic stones, but it was not shaving cleanly, so yesterday I took a DMT extra fine to it, finishing with very light trailing motions. Now it cut my finger while opening a parcel. I barely touched the edge. Mission accomplished I guess.

Once that heals I will finally start training my hands with Dit Da Jow again which I have been putting off since my hands seem to ALWAYS have some access port to my internal systems on the go.

Hardly two days later... opened up another one. Touched the belt in motion just a tad too long at the exact wrong spot while shaping a sheath. You could say I put the "split" in "split second" 🤣 🤦‍♂️
