Is there anyone out there without any cuts???

A couple of days ago I split my drop shut thumbnail just walking through a damn doorway. I guess my speed was overwhelming- my thumb hit the door jam at just the right angle to break my nail. I couldn’t figure out which knife to blame before I realized it was the damn jam.

I've cut myself a few times in the last year or so but nothing worthy of stitches or photos. Sophia, my Carothers DEK1, cut me a few months ago so clean that I didn't even feel it - I didn't know it until I started seeing blood on stuff.

I just had a Leatherman Skeletool CX fold on my finger when I was poking through a firewall grommet on my truck. Blood everywhere. That thing has had an easy life and doesn’t lock up at all.

Bought my first assisted opening knife last week. A Kershaw Leek in 14C28N with those slick SS scales. When closing one handed the resistance from the torsion bar caused the damn knife to slip and, yep you guessed it. Cut the inside of my thumb. Not too deep, but still it bled like a stuck pig.

if you're asking if I've got any ACTIVELY HEALING cuts, no.

I've had multiple cuts in my life. a few required serious medical attention.

one required next day surgery.

You re-opened it on a belt?! Ouch!

I am trying to develop a tolerance to being cut and become cut-proof. First, I just slide butter-knives across the skin, no skin breakage. I feel after a few months of this, I can move up to sliding things like a Medford or a Strider across my skin with no ill effects. If my logic follows, my body will soon be able to break Maxamet and shatter swords. 😂

Let us know when you work your way up to defying a Smatchet. 🤣

I got the idea from a guy who microdosed bullets to become bullet-proof! He started with .177 pellets in his leg, moved up to .22, and last the net heard of him, he was moving up to .22LR

I wonder why he disappeared after that. Mysterious. Maybe his knowledge of how to develop a tolerance to bullets was decided to be too powerful, and some shadowy Men in Black types took him away. That's my theory.

😂

Wait until you get your first feel of a nice red stovetop, that should be a chapter out of the ol' schoolbook taught and learned for ya.
I actually have avoided that particular thing, just based on the experiences of others. There's certain things I can simply imagine without needing to try it out for myself. Although, I have known a few females who simply could not understand how a stove can heat up without a flame!

I tried to explain, but it didn't help. They had to put their hands on the glowing burner. I'm not God, so I don't know what goes through the minds of others. Some people have trouble learning from the experience of others. They just have to try it for themselves.

It's very sad, because some wind up ruined for life. And, it couldn't have been otherwise. So, the hot stove burner will have to wait for me, because it won't happen in this life.

Thank you very much for the 'food for thought'. It was very kind of you.

Ah, yes, those silly females again, isn't it. You're very welcome.

You should win an award for this post. Seriously, thanks for that.
I've never won an award. Participation trophies weren't a thing when I was a lad.

Edit: Wait, I take that back. I've won exactly one award. A "certificate of recognition" from Safeco Insurance company for my charitable work with the MAGIC foundation. They donated $15k to the cause.

That's kind of how calluses work. Try whetstones to begin with, instead of knife blades. I've got calluses on my heels that my barely-used Opinel #8 will not easily go through.

I was sittin' on the can one night (*drunk...shocking), "playing" with my little TOPS "Pasayten Lite Traveler".

I drew it from the sheath with my weak hand and almost unceremoniously removed the first knuckle of my strong-hand index finger...

I immediately pulled-up my boxers, wrapped my finger in toilet paper, and headed to the kitchen sink. When I got there, I pulled back the flesh and could (*quite literally) see bone.

With my high blood pressure, I'm quite shocked that I didn't die right there on the kitchen floor. 😮

I'm very careful, but I still remember my first time, 7 years old, small blade of my Wenger Nomad. Still have the scar on my pinky.
