Is Your Most Expensive Knife Your Favorite Knife?

I'd have to say yes and no as well.
I love my Protech Runt auto and my Sog Trident.
But, I carry and love my spring assist S&W as well which is half the cost of the above.

Pretty much my favorites are the ones I spent the most on, currently alternating between a Spyderco Tusk and a Spyderco Chaparral.

I have spent more on knives in the past, I owned large and small Sebenzas. When I found knives I liked better for less money, they got sold. I'm a user not a collector.

Ditto for the Busse Skinny ASH I used to own, my current go to fixed blade is a Bark River, the Busse was sold after a couple years of non-use.

Grizz

Nope. Just as an example, my Cold Steel Tiger Claw cost more than my S110V Native Lightweight or Manix 2, but I like both of them more.

My most expensive is my biggest knife. BWM. In top 3 favorite. Good chance could only have one, it be it.

My most expensive one (Al Mar Shiva) is my favorite one, but not because its the most expensive. It is also not the one i paid the most for either. I think the craftsmanship and quality is better then my others, and is about perfect for me personally. In terms of folders, then i would say no. I still like my spydie pm2's better then the rest of my other folders.

Nope, I don't have any really expensive knives, most expensive being a ZT 0561. Favorite carry is my gray Endura.

Depends on my mood.
My favourites change up all the time.
Sometimes it's the most expensive one...sometimes it's one I made...sometimes my favourite changes multiple times in a single day!

Just about everything I have falls into the $20 - $50 range. On an impulse I bought a beautiful Scagel barlow stag for about $100 about a year ago, but I never carry it. Wouldn't want to sell it, but it's not a favorite.

Not sure about my "favourite" knife, but my most expensive knife is the ZT 0301 and it is tied for my favourite knife with the ZT 0560BW.

I don't think it is, my 2nd most expensive is my favorite.
Both together

My most expensive knife is an RJ martin custom . I do not carry it and I rarely even handle it . As much as I want to and how great the action is I just can't bring myself to do it.

The price is not the issue with the knife it's the availability of it. Even though RJ would take care of me if anything happened I still can't do it.

Generally I'm a no safe queens guy, always have been. This knife is the exception .

Not yet: my Fiddleback Bushfinger is my most expensive, but my BK9 is my favorite.

I say not yet because I only got the Bushfinger a month ago and I've not had a proper run at making it my own yet. Probably in my top 5 already

At one point in my collecting/hobby/addiction, I would have answered yes to your query. In keeping with some other responses, I too have mood swings. Some years, I focused in on one brand. Other seasons, I just went hog wild for full tang cutlery. My most expensive knives tend to be fixed blades. My high end folders usually stay in the drawer. For normal EDC, I carry a Buck 110 or an Opinel. The search for more cutlery has various intricate and convoluted phases! I certainly have had great enjoyment with knives that were purchased below the $100 price point. Others that cost a pretty penny tend to be investment pieces. Some knives are just bought because it was fun to buy them.

My Basic 9 has been with me for years now, and I have no complaints. I suppose I could sell all the rest and just keep the 9, but as we all know, there is no proper exit strategy for this highly addictive and expensive hobby. Notable mention goes out to the venerable RW from Swamprat.

Sebenza 25 is the most expensive I have and favorite would be mini grip with ti wilkins.

At the moment yes. I have a hinderer 3" wharncleff and I love it. Before I had a CRK umnumzaan that I liked but I didn't love so I sold it. Next fave is my 940. My other knives are 30$ and under. The BM and the hinderer are a great combo that doesn't need to be modified yet..

Is that Thorburn Damascus or does it just have water on it? Either way it's awesome.

For me it's a complicated question. My favorite is the most expensive I've ever purchased but it's not actually in my possession. I bought this for my dad for Christmas this year and it's without a doubt my favorite.
