It followed me home (Part 2)

She's good as new boys. The old haft won't be problem. I'll punch it out with no trouble. I pass em up if the eye is deformed.

Oh, that does look good. Must have been a trick of the light & finish.
Damn, that's a cool pattern you don't see often around here.

I have a few of them in #3 1/2 weight. I personally think the Flint Edge, and the Perfect are as good as they come.

It's probably a Kelly, here's the 3.5# the ridges line up but they are offset on the 3#

I'm not really looking for axes at the time being but I couldn't resist when these 3 fell in my lap for $35. All 3 have slim straight vintage handles that can be put back in service.

Sager Chemical Axe 1948, Puget Sound Falling pattern, hung upside down but looks barely used.
Flint Edge Western pattern also looks barely used. Appears to be original haft.
Plumb Victory re-hung on a Sequatchie 'Indian Fire' haft with price sticker from local hardware store.

According to this website:

the Sequatchie Plant was bought first by Link and then by Seymour. Current google map shows a plant that appears to still be in operation.

1965 Sequatchie Handle Catalog showing the Indian Fire brand (low budget - but damn, this is a nice handle).

Current plant on Google maps. Note that it's on 'Handle Street'.

If you end up cleaning up the Plumb, I'd be curious to see if it has those interesting production "lines" in it like some of the other Victory models we see.

Handle Street seems like a pretty appropriate name as well.

Great score on all three of those Square_peg.

Picked up something I have been trying to get for a while. A 2.9 pound Collins Legitimus. I am going to be putting this on a nice 28 inch boys haft and keeping it in the collection .

It does have a full size eye. I am going to try and find a 28 inch that has a a full size eye ? Maybe make one from a larger handle.

That is one fine Sager Pegs. The others are nothing I would leave either. I didn't know about the Indian Fire brand was low budget. Better than anything offered today.

Damn, Squares. I haven't even made covers for my double-bit and you're making me want more.

Thanks, Garry. It's better than it looks in the photo. The rust is superficial. There's none of the deep pitting you often see on chemical axes. It lived its life in a dry climate. All 3 did.
