It followed me home (Part 2)

Older unmarked Claw Hammer...Couldn't resist for $2.99 at Salvation Army. No makers mark but with that older style...nail puller unblemished which is rare and regular use on the face. I liked the old painted handle hard to tell if factory or not. As an object it's cool.

It's not mine, but I'm refurbing it for a family member. A big, 4-5 lb Plumb Dayton with a great high centerline. It's on a straight replacement handle that is in good shape, but the checking is *deep*. I'll try to reuse it because it seems great otherwise.

Nice. I have a Plumb of that shape from the 70's or 80's. Good axe, but it doesn't see much use because I have a better splitter. Reminds me, the head needs to be tightened up.

alright, i got some pictures. left to right, collins boys/fire axe, 4 pound virginia with a welded bit. lever style cross cut saw set (major time saver) council tool normal jersey, cuts surprisingly well out of the box. plumb and then, the whopper, 6 3/4 kentucky, very faint 5 stamp on the side, just below the bit of wood sticking up. lance tooth cross cut, cant wait to file it. last shot is the kentucky next to the plumb for scale. would you like to see a deadbox-style review on the collins? it's pretty much NOS except the edge, but the edge was well taken care of, until i hit a rock. all in all i have about 70 bucks in this hall. http://imgur.com/a/RkJ3H

Nice stuff you got there Phantom. I might be tempted to call that big guy with ears a Carolina pattern, but I would probably be wrong. Whatever pattern it is it seems to be big, bad, old and gorgeous.
That saw isn't a pattern I come across around here. Any clues to the maker?

Damn, nice Spiller Copper. we just don't have those out here.
SC with A nice Plumb also.
You guys are killing it and I am still stuck in the winter blues.:o

Thanks jblyttle for my current haul .

Edit: any one have good tips on getting this brush hook off the handle? It's amazing handle I want to repurpose it.

I'll just leave this here....all from today. Things have been slower but this is better! I can taste Spring.

Thanks, Garry. It's better than it looks in the photo. The rust is superficial. There's none of the deep pitting you often see on chemical axes. It lived its life in a dry climate. All 3 did.

That Flint Edge looks real fresh, just some light surface rust. I would like to see what they looked like cleaned up, especially that Sager. Hard to find them like that.
