This was a good collection, not only for the variety, but also the condition. All have good solid handles, most are original. Nothing but some light surface rust, no pitting at all. Several, such as the Craftsman 4th down on the left are in superlative condition with a tight flush wood in the eye and original paint. I really enjoy the act of finding as much as the axes themselves. A good day.
From top left heading down- A really nice fire axe with some markings, not original but a nice quality handle. A probable Plum based on the color of the handle and the head, great condition, handle just needs light sanding. A very nice True Temper, later model but still older and in rock solid shape. An absolutely beautiful Craftsman Michigan pattern, just awesome. A Plumb All American, fantastic shape. A True Temper Flint Edge Connecticut, just great and only needs a light sanding on the handle. A beautiful Michigan pattern, marked Made In USA, original paint on rock solid handle.
Next row- A very nice unmarked house axe. A like new quality Stanley hatchet. A hatchet marked Made In W Germany. A standard roofers hatchet marked GTW. A Plumb barrel hatchet so nice that the red Permabond is still glossy. An unmarked but very nice green hatchet, I've seen this before but don't know who makes it. A 3lb Plumb Connecticut. An axe marked DY and 2 1/2, like new condition. A True Temper Flint Edge Kelly Works Michigan.
I am really happy with this stash. I went into a non-fancy antique store and asked. They had this stuff in the back shed, wasn't even for sale in the showroom.
